Excellent ipod controller for 04 tl and up
Excellent ipod controller for 04 tl and up
Pac Audio part # upac-hon1. It plugs directly into the back of the head unit on the left side. It gives complete alpha control and scrolling of the artists, album etc from the navi screen and the clock up top. It will also work for newer TLs with nav traffic with another part added. If anyone needs any info just let me know. My friend at the dealership here in kc was very happy to see what I had.

Im not sure there is a difference in the hon1 and the pxamg. I am extremely happy that you can call pac audio and get tech support in minutes and someone who speaks english as well!@ I think pac might make the product that comes in the isimple. They just package it and label it differently, but I could be wrong.
I just spoke to pac and from what I gathered there is no difference in the 2. I ended up ordering the pxamg which will be here tomorrow. A lot of the local shops here carry the pxamg and all had great things to say about it.
This isn't in the Audio Electronics FAQ sticky (which looks outdated BTW).
Is this a newer/better interface?
Is there an installation DIY somewhere? Like now to remove the head unit to plug this thing in?
Can anyone confirm the NAVI control screen works for 04 TL and the Iphone?
How do you access it through the NAV screen?

you dont remove the head unit, you have to remove a few driver side panels and awkwardly twist your body and hands to unplug/plug in the connections.. .should be a DIY in the garage
I don't recommend going with the Hon1. I have the Hon2Y which is more feature-rich and comes with the y-connector necessary to keep the XM alive on your car and still have the iPod connectivity. It's my understanding that USASpec has since come out with the Hon3, but I don't know much about it.
Here's my install thread: https://acurazine.com/forums/3g-tl-audio-bluetooth-electronics-navigation-94/i-160-usa-spec-install-633080/

My neopro will integrate with the scrolling text but doesn't work so well with XM radio enabled. Does this unit work with XM enabled? I had to configure my neopro to use CDC mode so it can work with XM- biggest issue is no scrolling text.
I'll let you know how it turns out, install looks very simple, plug and play.
So is the USA-Spec PA15-HON3 the model to go with if you want to have text displayed? Also, does it allow a generic mp3 player to be connected to the aux input, if wanted? I am in the process of replacing the nav and climate control bulbs, so figured i might as well add one of these since I will be removing the radio.
Seeing as I do not have xm built into the head unit I have to use the mode selection button on the steering wheel to get to the XM/AUX function once installed. Install was very straight forward, simply insert the correct plug into the empty xm input (white plug closest to driver’s side) on the back of the head unit then the longer narrower plug into the Upac unit and that's pretty much it.
I have to read the instructions to completely understand how it functions through the head unit, but I've tested it and it was working great and the sound is so much better then the headphone plug adaptor I was using.
If you have any question let me know, but basically I removed the panels on the driver’s side, not the entire radio, and simply plugged it in. Oh I installed the Sirius unit as well and that plugs into the Upac unit device 2 input…very easy. Now I have to figure out where to mount everything
