Ever hear of a lightning electronic interference?
So the other day I was driving home on the highway as usual listening to my radio and music loud. It was raining and lightning a lot outside around me that night. All of a sudden, my music stopped playing. Not only that but all the controls and buttons in my car didn't work including all the buttons on the steering wheel. Even the touch screen on the Nav didn't register my touch commands. The bluetooth headset worked on the small indicator screen but no sounds came out. Basically all sounds and music inside my car suddenly died. I started freaking out and when I got home, I turned off my car and restarted the engine. After that, everything was working normally again.
Do you think it was a cause of the lightning or does this sound like a problem with my actual radio? I have a brand new 06 TL and if it's something wrong with the actual unit, then I feel like I should take the car into Acura. If it's common to have lightning causing temporary interference I guess that gives me some relief

It sounds more like the factory amp over heated and shut down to protect itself! This can ba common thing for someone that listens to thier music to loud. Being in the car stereo install industry, I see this quite often with aftermarket equipment. Shouldn't be anything to worry about yet, but you may want to look into upgrading your factory system if you want it to play loud for a sustained amount of time.

I can't imagine the stock systems amp going into protection mode. I've played my radio at high volume for long periods of time w/ no shut down. Sounds a little weird to me.
And as far as the electronic jamming, wouldn't that have an effect on his engine too? Since it uses cpu's to adjust air/fuel mix ect. ect. I'd go to the dealer and have them do a once over just to be safe!! just my

I have a question. I was driving in a thunder/lightning storm in my old car...after one of the flashes the god damn alarm started going off. I couldnt get the damn thing to turn off and had to eventually pull over to cut the wire. This happened twice during storms, and only during storms. Does anyone know why?
if i were to take a wild guess the static buildup in the air caused esd (electrostaticdischarge) to energize a relay and the said relay got stuck in the energized postion. i have some knowlege of electronics from my navy training but i dont know jack about how car alarms are set up but ive seen crazier stuff happen with enough juice like this time a power serge caused and address switch to be changed (something you have to phisically change with a pen or something small) in the equipment i used to work on it took me hours to find the prob. it actually happen 2 more time afterwards but then i knew to go straight to that switch
