Engine Noise with Audio System Install

hey guys, i'm having a weird problem with engine noise with a recent audio install. I installed the system myself and could hear road noise pretty bad. So I took everything out and took my vehicle to car toys thinking that people that do this everyday would know how to install this equipment with better results.

But, this is not the case.....I still have engine noise through the sub......anyone have a similar issue.

here's my setup. Factory radio with Nav. Package. JL a1400 with 1 JL 12w3v3 1 ohm sub. The checked the RCA's and they said it could be a mic issue.....not sure what that is...but they said it was installed to eliminate road noise. not sure tho.

any help would be great.

thanks,

I assume you have a 2007 or 2008 Tl Type S???

Does the noise go away when you open the doors???

If so, you'll have to remove the rear dome light cover/assembly and you'll see a small microphone... Unplug it and you shouldnt have any more noise...

That's right. If you are looking toward the rear of the car, when you take the rear domelight out, there is a green plug to the right. Just unplug that, and you're set! Here is the 3G Garage DIY #I-163:

Where did you run the power wire? The firewall or the door jam? Also, where did you source the remote turn-on for the amp? Thats where I would look.

isn't there also an ANC mic in the front that needs to be disconnected as well?

can't say for sure as I have an '05.

In the....

well, when i installed the equipment i went through the firewall. I'm not really sure how the professionals did it......the funny thing is....if you remove the rear light, and unplug the wire harness that runs to the light, the engine noise stops.....

so, my question would be.....are all three wires in that harness for the light?
