e815 and caller ID
e815 and caller ID
For those of you that have the e815 from Verizon, does the car also display the caller ID? the verizon website said it would show the signal strength, battery and roaming indicator, but not the caller id. I thought I had read from someone that it did show the caller ID in the car's display. thanks
Good question about the caller ID since I've been making all the calls so far, the battery strength is the only symbol I can recall from the top of my head...maybe later when I get home I'll check since the wife has the TL and I the Ody....
I have had the e815 for two weeks. It does not show caller ID for received calls for either phone numbers I have stored in the TL phone book nor the phone numbers stored in the e815 phone book nor any random number. It only shows the phone number for numbers dialed. If anybody has any suggestions, I would appreciate it, otherwise the above posts indicating the caller-id shows during received calls may be incorrect. It did pair easily and shows signal and battery strength.
In my 04, I get all 3 with the e815, but I did notice that the it seems to display the roaming indicator for some reason also. I am using a plan that can't roam and the phone itself does not show roaming either.

As I indicated above, the caller id works fine on my '04. However, I have had the roam indicator appear a couple of times and, like chilimost, I have a national plan as well. I live on the edge of an EVDO area so maybe that explains the roam signal appearing for a short time during the transition.
I just switched over to Verizon and got the E815 yesterday, and was just out messing around with the HFL stuff. This may not apply or may not help, it might even be common knowledge, but I figured I'd toss it out there anyway. YMMV
I was expecting the caller id to work all the time, but I've discovered it only works when the MID is on the HFL screen. Which is unfortunate because I tend to drive w/ the main display and outside temp. But I guess I could get used to that.
I also discovered that if you don't pick up a call (ie, it's a "missed call"), subsequent calls don't show up on caller ID, regardless of being on the HFL screen or not. Perhaps it's only if it's from the same number as the unanswered call, I don't know... I only have access to one other phone.
But I certainly get battery life, signal strength, and caller ID. Perhaps this will help you.

Overall, the E815 is excellent. Way to go Motorola.

its nobodys fault for these problems, bluetooth in cars is still in its early stages of development, im just glad that i have something that i can recieve calls and send calls from the car, im not so big on caller id, usually my phone is in the cupholder anyways so i can see who is calling so its not that big of a deal, hopefulyl acura will have some sort of update soon that will fix these little bugs
