DVD player placement

I'm want to add a dvd player to my nav system and just wanted to know where is everyone else putting there dvd player and what brand do you have? I have searched the forums but can't seem to get the answer I need. This could help a lot of people and save a lot of time.

Thanks for the info.

I have seen them in the glove or under the passenger seat. Also people have placed then in the cup holder slot in the arm rest (back seat). Depends on you what spot is most convinient for you.

Can you post your pics of the placement of your dvd units?

I would like to see some pics as well........

I like the idea of putting it in the back by the cup holders, but I dont really want to drill in to the plastic piece, and a DVD player is just too bulky to use velcro on.

I know this was lazy but I placed mine, using velcro on the bottom, right on top of the NAV dvd reader in the trunk. Not convenient for changing on the go but was very easy to install

I do have a remote sensor and a remote control for controlling the unit and since it also has a built in TV tuner I am able to change channels, pause, play, etc from the driver seat.

I wouldn't recommend putting it in the cupholder, unless you don't use it for any extended period of time. With no air circulating, if it runs for any length of time, it will burn out. I speak from my buddy's experience. He lost two before we figured it out.

I have seen posts from other people installing players in various locations, but every time they require some sacrifice. The pictures showed installation taking the whole glove box, cupholders in the rear seat armrest, under the front passenger seat- easily snashed by rear seat passenger feet, etc.

When I said rear cup holders, I didnt mean inside the comtainment area where the cup holders are. I meant on top of the plastic piece which swings up, so the DVD player will be in the trunk area, and when the piece is put down, you can see it in the center in the rear seat.

Also I would love to find one to fit under the navi itself in the top pocket, I dont use that place for anything anyways.

The smallest DVD player I know of is sized 3/4DIN and will not fit the pocket on TL (but will in TSX )

Back rear right of trunk. Easily accessed by rear passenger through the ski hole. Easy to hide wires through the removable piece (that covers the spare tire compartment). I like the idea of mounting it on top of the ski hole cover...but my DVD player doesn't play upside down and I use that hole for everything from skis to 2x4's

I am leaning towars putting it in the glove box............look into the AccelVision DVD8500, its super compact, it is about $160

Anyone use DVD changers? I was considering that as well. You can mount it in the trunk, so it would be super easy to run the wires and install it. And with the remote eye wire, you can access at least 6 DVD movies at any given time, also play MP3CDs.........

You have to wire the Audio cable to the front of the interface box (blitzsafe etc..) but thats it. Those can be wired at the same time with the remote eye.

Arrow Accele Vision 8500 In Glovebox. 06 TL

Its very small .. and there's still room to put things in the glove box. Maybe like 2 DVD cases, napkins, registration, small tools or something ....

The red switch is to turn on the video feed to switch over between the regular Navi screen or to use the DVD player. The other switch is to turn on the FM modulator for sound. So, if you wanted, you could play the DVD (just for show purposes) and just listen to the radio, cd, etc.

Another link for more pics of the install:
