DVD conversion + high end audio

Ok I searched... I sware.

I am looking to find the DVD conversion and EVERYTHING I need for it PLUS adding a high end audio system.

Would the DVD conversion equipment change because of the audio system??
Does the factory system HU supply enough preout volts to power my system?

I am looking at adding 2 or 3 aftermarket amps and replacing all the internal speakers and 2 -12" subs. About 500W per sub and then 100W going to each speaker with 150W going to the front component set.

I know there will be a lot of draw on the battery so I am upgrading that to a yellow top or maybe a new Kinetic battery.

I am eventually going to add the hearrest monitors 8" ones with each being able to view its own source. I will probably add an xbox as well

Anyone have some ideas where i can put the xbox? Any other suggestions..

I am looking for some much needed advice here guys... I appreciate it.

Frist do you have a navi or not? I am assuming you have one.

you can check https://acurazine.com/forums/showpos...7&postcount=12

Jerky got his navi converted to play DVD. Blitzsafe might be your answer.

thanks for the reply.. but everyone I have seen that has done the conversion hasnt metioned ANYTHING about aftermarket audio. I know a couple people were talking about it but noone has actually done anything.

I am getting the Navi one on Monday. I pick it up and sometime after thanksgiving I will be adding all my stuff to it.

I have read all the posts in the other threads about the DVD conversion and am still wondering if anyone has used anything newer. The last posts were from September regarding all the equipment. I am wondering if it has gotten any easier/better to do the conversion.

I just really need to know what to buy for the whole install beginning to end, WITHOUT using FM modulation. I don't really think I care about XM radion either so if that is easier than I don't need it at all.

XM is great... just give it a try since you have the free trial period.

I read many threads on the stock AMP already and they did not have RCA input/output, they use some factory connectors and you need to do it carefully or othewise you might loose your HFL and also voice control of the navi and etc. Alot of ppl in the end did not upgrade the amp but just upgrade the sub.

So are you saying that I would lose the Voice controls of the Navi IF I went with aftermarket amps?

If you did not do it right, you will lose those functionality. Just take caution and I believe it can be done correctly.

wouldnt upgrading the speakers make for (not large increase of course) louder radio? if you used more efficient (sensative) speakers the power that was driving them would be put to good use.... how efficient are the stock speakers? all of them?

Onager,

For me anyway, I WANT it REALLY Loud. I also want very good sound quality and the factory amp just will not play the speakers I want very good. There just isn't enough juice in that little thing to make it sound good.

Yes installing aftermarket speakers with a high sensativity would be a very good idea and anyone would get much better sound, but for me it just wouldn't be enough. Plus I would rather for the extra $600-1000 bucks spring for an amp to power them. But that is just me. I have always been a big fan of car audio (can't install it worth a shit, but hey) I drive alot. About 30,000 miles a year so I am constantly in my car and the audio system is my thing that i drop money on.

I have never before done the video thing and it will increase the cost by a LARGE $$$ but i figure I might as well do it now.

Anybody have any suggestions

What are you doing with all of your factory stuff after you change. I would be interested in purchasing it especially if you could leave some of the stock wiring. Let me know.
