DVD-A burnt on a mac, plays?

Hi all, I'm looking to ask anyone who has successfully burned a DVD-A disc on a mac and had it play in the TL.

I've looked into Toast and Jam, but they don't seem to be the right deal. I have DVD Studio Pro if that's the way to go, but I haven't even cracked that open yet.

Thanks,

-spack

i have dvd audio burner, not sure if it will work, i heard dvd lab pro will burn a dvd audio only track disc

discwelder is the one to get, you have to convert your music to .pcm format, i have adobe audition (formerly cool edit pro) so i can do that for full dvd hd sound. i'll probably wait to get discwelder just to see if anything else surfaces. from what i know dvd audio burner will make sort of a mp3 style disc that plays in dvd format, you can load a full dvd of mp3's on it, i'll check it out over the weekend

Sorry, I guess I wasn't too clear there... I'm looking specifically for a solution on the mac platform, not Windows. Thanks.

take this from a mac user -- even with virtual PC, discwelder was still a pain in the ass (didn't support my powerbook's burner). DVD-AUDIO is NOT a regular dvd, it's got a proprietary disc structure that cannot be created in any apple supported application. My advice -- use a friend's PC with wavelab or discwelder and create the disc on that.

Is it so much a proprietary disc structure as it is the licensing to put it in the 5.1 .AOB format ?

The disks look just like dvd file structures but the files are in the audio_ts dir rather than the video_ts dir and they are stored in .AOB files rather than .VOB files.

I thought it was all in the licensing that you had to buy the DiscWelder for so that it could make the .AOB format.

I may be wrong, but the disc/filesystem just didn't look that much different.

Toast/Jam and DVDSP wont do it, as far as I know.

I'd try Discwelder Bronze for mac. Its available now. I still have to buy a copy, but if you get it first let us know how it works.

Thanks divxz! I'll look into that. I'll post back here with my findings.

Right, it is the licensing of their proprietary disc format (a regular dvd-video format would be able to play in our car-- however the dvd audio format has it's own structure.) That's why apple doesn't include tools to make it-- they don't want to cough up the money to support something that, unfortunately, has no real market.
