Dvd audio help!!!

Ok so I have been searching online for a few hours now trying to figure out just how to create a DVD audio disc to play in my 08 TL. So far I have not found one clear cut set of instructions on just how to do so. I have burned a few discs with no luck playing, keep getting "disc format" message. I have tried .wav and .AIFF with no luck on either of them working. I am using Sony DVD+R Version 1.3/1x-16x type DVD's. Are these not the correct kind? I have a mac and have used disk utility and my external burner to try burning them and no luck with both. Also I have heard that there are certain applications needed to achieve the Dolby 5.1 sound. If anyone has any intel for me on this issue it would be greatly appreciated. I heard that once it does work the sound is amazing!

sorry but in no way you will be able to burn a "true" 5.1 DVD-A using your computer.

You are correct, the program I used converted the wav file to a 6 channel track via the 5.1 setting, but after I opened the file in audacity only the 2 stereo channels had audio, the other 4 had silence. I see now the only way to convert is to do a whole lot of work in copying the stereo channels to the other 4, and it's not just that simple. I got excited and thought technology was on my side, yeah nope!
