Did you run dvd-identifier to see if the media is also identical ?
I am using a Pioneer DVR-109 burner. The drive is nothing special just a 16x.

I can't believe you comitted to a box of 50 DL discs. Now I understand why you want to get this working. Using those +R DL discs, are you able to make DL DVD-Videos that work on your home system ?

How about this - Are there any burner drives that play DVD-Audio discs?

That is a good question. I think the answer is NO because they would need to have 6 analog outputs on the drive for the 5.1. It would be nice to be able to though.

My Sony DVD burner does play these homemade DVD-Audio discs! But as many of you should know, we aren't really making DVD-Audio discs. We are making really long CDs, as the sampling is the same 44.1khz/16bit. Well I should add that it's my soundcard that is playing them. I just got a Soundblaster X-Fi Platinum and I love it. Not only does it play our discs we make for the car, I can record ANYTHING at any time with the soundcard. There is a button/mode called "What U Hear" that can record whatever I am listening to, so if it's a stream online or the soundtrack of a movie or an cassette deck I plugged into the computer, etc.

Well that is a little good news. I am going to try one more +DL media type - Verbatim. If this fails, I'm buying a new burner.

I did not run a media identifier. I can tell you though that I've never had a +r media of any kind work in my TL, from at least three different DVD burners (a Pioneer, a Plextor, and the new Samsung). The reports of success with + media are few and very far between.

Not that big a deal really to buy a 50 disk cakebox. I can use the +R's for other things. I'd have bought -R's in the first place if they were more commonly available.

Just a cautionary note:

You must use NTFS when creating DL disks since the file sizes may exceed Fat32s 4gig limit.

Mike, why not just burn directly to disc with DVD-A Solo?

I downloaded the demo version of this program, but how do I create an ISO with it? Do I need the full version? I got a Plextor drive which will do DL DVD-R discs, and I bought some of the RiDATA that you mentioned, however DVD-A Solo says "Disc Not Writeable." I assume you saw that too and is that why you burned with a different program?

I'm getting closer, but man this is getting annoying and expensive.

Ok, here comes a curveball...

I am still trying to burn the same iso I made with Adobeman's program. I know the iso is fine because I was able to play a previously burned DVD+R DL disc on my computer and I downloaded Daemon Tools and the iso was ok on that too.

I attempted to burn with RiData DVD-R DL with IMGburn. It got to 50% done and everytime it would stop and terminate the burn. This happened 2 or 3 times.

I was able to burn a RiData DVD-R DL with Nero 6 (came with my new Plextor external burner), but the disc would not play in my car. As luck would have it, I noticed the disc was cracked and that may have been the reason.

So, you'd think I could just re-burn with Nero, right? Wrong! Everytime I tried, it would go 50% of the way and end the burn.

I also downloaded DVD-A Solo, but that wouldn't accept the RiData DVD-R DL discs!

For whatever reason, maybe it was just a stupid guess, but I attempted a burn with IMGburn using a Fuji DVD+R DL disc (that did not work in the car when burned with Nero).

It works!!! A Fuji DVD+R DL disc burned with IMGburn PLAYS IN THE CAR!!! Maybe it had to do with a combo of things. The right disc + the right burning program + the right burn speed (I chose 1x) + the right burner (Plextor instead of Sony) = Acura success!

Now I have a bunch of RiData discs I may not use. What a pain in the ass this technology is. This cost me a lot of money, but in the end, I got what I wanted.

Good question! The answer is because it doesn't recognize the DVD-R DL media type in the DVD writer. So I make an ISO instead and then use a program that does recognize the media to burn it.

Can you make an ISO with the DEMO download of DVD-A Solo? I was looking around on the demo and couldn't find the feature. Maybe I'll get DVD Decrypter and give it a try with the ISO I made with Adobeman's program.

Yes, you can. Under the DVD tab instead of selecting Direct to DVD, select Save Only. That will create an ISO. Each ISO you create counts against the total of 5 disks that the demo will burn.

I bought DVD-A Solo when the demo ran out because it will make a DL image (which I couldn't get DiscWelder to do) and it does multiple groups (which DiscWelder Chrome also does) for a very reasonable price.

I realize this is an old thread, but I have acheived dual layer success using Adobeman's scripts. For the record, here is what I've used to burn two stereo dual layer DVDs that work perfectly in my TL:

- Media: Verbatim DVD+R DL 8x speed
- Burner: LaCie d2 DVD +/- RW (+R DL)
- Software: CDex, Adobeman's scripts (thanks for putting these together, they work great), and Roxio Easy Media Creator 7 Basic (came with the burner)
- Computer: Toshiba Satellite

I ripped the CDs to an external HD (also LaCie) connected to the burner and computer via Firewire 400. Everything worked the first time, no coasters here. I love the sound quality (I ripped WAVs from the CDs). Sounds 100x times better than my Ipod over an FM transmitter and 1000x times better than XM. I was able to acheive an average write speed of 4x when burning the ISO, which took about 20 minutes.

Okay, so a CD Data Disc with MP3's worked for my TL, but my DVD Jukebox playlist burned from Nero 7 did not work on the TL...maybe I should try DVD Data and it'll work? Btw, I have an '07 TL-S. Not sure if that makes a difference...

I also use my nano 2G Ipod, but I hate the fact that I have to manually switch tracks and/or search using the unit itself. I'm not too happy about the discontinued Acura Music Link...Anyway, I'm going to try and burn the MP3's via DVD Data and see what the outcome is.

DVD Data Discs full of MP3s won't work in the TLs... 07 TLs will only play MP3 **CDs**
