Run a search on DVD-A and you'll find a number of online sites. As far as hip-hop goes, there aren't that many titles available. Most of the releases are in the Classical, Rock, Pop, and Jazz genres. Check this site, Buy DVD Now for a listing of releases in DVD-A, SACD and DualDisc.

The difference you speak of (between Blue Man Group & Linkin Park) is called “Dynamics”
Blue Man Group DVD has much more sonic dynamic than the Linkin Park DVD. The Linkin Park DVD, like soooo many other CD’s/DVD’s of late is dynamically “squashed” to $hit.
Compression is used during the recording/mastering of a song to get increased volume. However, this increased loudness does not come without penalty. With increased loudness you get loss of dynamic. The concept of compressing a song among record labels, in an attempt for their artist to be heard over other artists, has been around for years and is only getting worse. The general consensus within the audiophile community is that this sounds terrible.
As mentioned by Fast Lavey above, the Blue Man Group songs get louder in some sections and are soft in others. The songs are dynamic. The Linkin Park songs will tend to start loud and stay loud... throughout the entire song. They are squashed.
I am not an audiophile. But, I personally think it sounds like $hit when a song has no dynamic and just blares in your face from start to end. You make up your own mind. Maybe it works for Linkin Park, maybe not. If you are interested in additional info on this subject, do a quick google search. You will find years of reading. As you have said yourself – if you want it louder just turn it up…
That’s why your radio has a volume knob!
