Drop-In Stock Subwoofer Replacement question.

Hello there.
I live in Vancouver, Canada and I would like to change my subwoofer by just replacing the stock one. Due to my major is movie related, I need to use the trunk wisely.
I was looking at JL 8W1V2-4 since I can get it from an official dealer.
But when I researched the forum, I saw some people recommending 8w3v3 instead but wouldn't I need to make a hole due to its size of the depth?

Moreover, what would be a good amp to buy if the RMS of the subwoofer is 150RMS? 150RMS amp or 300RMS amp? (I saw some people saying I should get an amp which produces 2x power of the subwoofer so it won't get heated easily)

Also I saw this Pioneeer 8" subwoofer and the depth is really slim. However, the frequency is from 25hz to 1.5kHz and I was wondering if that would be too high frequency for a subwoofer. Please share your opinions or experiences regarding to high bandwidth subwoofers. I was wondering about that.

I find TL's subwoofer is okay only under 50km/h of speeding. If I drive on highway, I can't hear any bass due to the road noise.

Also, what is the RMS of stock subwoofer? I was trying to research for it but I couldn't find any information except 100watt.

But when I saw a picture of the stock subwoofer, it was saying 40watt from the sticker??

Anyway, thank you very much for your priceless opinions.
Any suggestion for replacing the stock subwoofer would be really nice.

Thanks! Have a good day guys!

These questions have all been answered here in this forum. Do an advanced search on "subwoofer" only in the forum: AcuraZine TL Community > Third Generation TL (2004-2008)> Audio, Bluetooth, Electronics & Navigation

Your main problem will be that there are very few suitable free air 8" subs on the market for this application.

Short answer is yes it can be done, but you'll spend almost the same or more money and still get very minimal improvement. You're best bet is to add a sub into the trunk corner pocket with a 10" woofer. Uncald4 makes custom enclosures.. this is what I'm going to do.
