I have some concert DVDs that do not have a Stereo track on them. I want to add these to my iPOD, so I need to convert them to Stereo, put on a CD and then import to iTunes.

Anyone know of any SW that I can run to do this?

I find plenty of links to go from Stereo to 5.1, but not the other way. Suggestions appreciated.

 

Easy Way but will cost about $30 usd - Try DVD Audio Extractor. Rip the DVD to your drive and then this program can do all kinds of audio extractions including the down-mixing you want. It will split by DVD chapters as well

Harder but free --There are free ways out there to do it using a combination of rippers and audio tools (like BeSweet) but that's going to take more work on your part. You would need a ripper tool that could do something like on VOB or AC3 file per chapter and then an audio tool that could extract the proper audio stream and convert to a down-sampled, down-mixed wav file. This thread is close but you will have to find SmartRipper and BeSweet on your own (the links in the thread are no good). And then you will have to tweak the BeSweet command to get 2 ch, 44.1k/16bit wavs.
