Door Lock Beep Speaker

Hi All,

I'm wondering if anyone knows the location of the speaker that beeps when you press lock twice. Or, alternatively, the location of the output which leads to this speaker.

My idea is to use this as a trigger, and since I believe this is not a DC type of pulse, I would be using a amplifier turn-on module that looks for any voltage across a pair of speaker leads and then sends a 12v out.

If anyone knows of an alternative way to get a 12v trigger from the factory remote, such as to the panic button, I'm all ears.

Thanks in advance!

it's in the driver fender, you can get to it by turning your wheels to the left, and pulling the fender liner down

the airbag sensor is also in the front fenders, but they are in front of the wheel, the buzzer is on the back end of the front fender, around the area of the sidemarker

I know I have asked before but has anyone found a way to change that lock beep to a chirp sound like an aftermarket alarm. I know most people don't like it like that but I am one of those dorks. I that miss the way my old Bimmer armed the alarm.

How does that beep siren work? Is the "brain" for it from the alarm or maybe it gets a pulsed input? Or does it just get a simple 12V signal (I hope)? In which case, I see cheap alarm sirens on Ebay. I wonder if I wire that that sucker in it will do the trick? I know I sound totally nieve here but I know one of you guys knows the answer.

I actually have the same question, that little beep is very weak. I would like to make it a nice confirming chirp.

The output is unfortunately not 12v. It is actually a small speaker, so a direct replacement really isn't an option.

I put a module on those leads which senses any voltage and activates a 12v output, put this particular module has a timer which keeps the output active for about a minute after the signal is gone. Works fine for my application, but not to trigger a horn.

Maybe you could get a low voltage relay from Radio Shack which would trigger with the signal?? I'm pretty sure there's some way to get what you're looking for.

no it is an option.... i got this thing from peripheral electronics i think its the lvt2..... it takes a signal as small at .6 volts or .06 and activates a remote cable thats 12volt.... i got 2 of them one for this to hook up to my train horn and one for the stock amp.....they said it can be used for a lot of diff things.

I'm not a very electronically savvy person.

So if I connect the Lvt2 to it, the horn door lock beep will be louder? All I have to do is connect it because the voltage going through it right now is very weak and this would increase it to 12v thus louder beep?

no. the door beep triggers the lvt2 to give a momentary on/off to an accessory device at 12 volts if the signal is weaker than 12v
