Does the NAVI GPS system use WAAS?
Does the NAVI GPS system use WAAS?
Does anyone know (maybe someone with a factory service manual) know anything about the specs of the nav system?
I was curious if it used WAAS (Wide Area Augmentation System). Mine seems eerily accurate . . . within a yard or two, say . . . and I don't know if that's possible with DGPS (differential GPS).
Just curious.

The TL's GPS receiver is tied in to a yaw rate sensor and wheel speed sensor, which is why it's more accurate than vanilla GPS. The yaw rate limit sucks so the NAV gets way off if you do tight turns and you don't yet have GPS lock (i.e. right out of the garage). I don't think the receiver is WAAS enabled. Differential GPS is something else entirely, having to do with a stationary receiver in addition to the user's receiver (i.e. in the TL). It definitely is NOT a DGPS system. GPS these days is a lot more accurate than in the mid-90s when they stopped adding error to the signal... on the order of 10 m, and even better with the additional sensor inputs.
EDIT: Maybe you meant to say, "I don't know if that's possible WITHOUT DGPS"??
