Does the CD Player play compressed files?

Does the CD Player play CDs that have music files that have been recorded in a compressed format like .mp3 or any other format? So that we can play CDs that have more than say 20 songs on them?

1. I apologize iif this questions has been addressed. I searched the posts and found some lenghty discussion but no concrete conclusions. If there has been a consenses in a previous thread, can someone please point me to it.

2. I am not talking about songs that were in a compressed format at "some stage of their life" . ie. I want to know specifically if I COPY say mp3 files onto a CD (as Data) will the player play them as music?

Thanks in advance

The only compressed format on CD supported by the TL player is DTS, but that's for 5.1 playback so it really doesn't count. MP3, WMA, etc. are not supported.
