DOA experience with Vsokolov's Navi Plus unit
Problems with vsokolov's Navi Plus unit
Hi,
I want to share with you my experience with Vsokolov's Navi Plus plug and play converter. I bought it as part of the group buy back in March.
I took it to my installer, but it was a DOA unit. When the switch was switched on/off, the screen in the car remains on the navigation image, meaning the external video source is not being switched into the display. When I called Vitaliy, he suggested over the phone we open the box and see if the switch is making proper contact with the circuit board, but my installer told him it would be easier to send the unit back for replacement instead of having me pay the installers to debug the issues on the the navi plus unit.
I sent back the unit (shipping was out of my own pocket, a few dollars), and soon after, I received the replacement unit. This time, when the switch is turned on/off, I do get an image on the screen, but it appeared to be "out of sync". We saw a series of horizontal lines on the screen, and when holding down the reset button, the image would come back temperarily, but falls out of sync again.
At this point, I thought I would have to send the unit back again for another replacement. The installers opened the box and noticed a glaring problem. One of the cold solder point was loose with poor contact (when we pressed the "reset", it would make sometimes improve the contact). After proper soldering, the unit worked perfectly.
I wanted to share this experience with you so you are aware that there's potentially a bad DOA (dead on arrival) issue with vsokolov's navi plus unit, and I am a bit concerned about long term reliability as well.
In the meantime, it's working very well.

I'm sorry you had this problem that is why we offered and have extended your warranty on the unit. As you will see your the only person on this forum so far to send a unit in for exchange. The units are professionally made in a facotry and I'm very sorry for your negative experiance.
