Do you need to remove the stock alarm to add a new one?
ok so i just bought a 2004 acura tl base model and it comes with a stock alarm, i plan on adding the viper 5902 version with the remote start but wasnt sure if the old factory alarm has to come off or a bypass needs to be added with the viper 5902.
if you can keep the stock on, will it interfere with the viper alarm? if i activate the viper alarm will my stock alarm also activate? is it better to remove the stock alarm and add just the viper alarm? if so, how do you remove it?

The stock alarm will stay on the car, and the viper will basically be added on top of it. You will need a bypass which usually runs around $90 at the installer. This bypass will make it so the stock alarm doesn't have any problems with the aftermarket. I believe it can be programmed where both alarms go off at the same time or just the viper one
is there a DIY on the bypass? i rather do it my self and learn then pay someone to do something i can do my self... for the viper i have installed one with remote start my self in working order too so adding a bypass should be a piece of cake but i would still like to see how its done to get a better idea
Unfortunately things are going to get a little tricky because since the newer bypass modules integrate through the vehicles existing data bus system. The module will need to be flashed with the corresponding platform that matches your vehicle. Depending on the shop they might not sell them outside of their installation because you need an account and proprietary cable to flash it. But below is vipers site for their bypass modules. You can at least look at the instruction manual for the module.

The prefered bypass module from viper in my opinion would be the:
DBALL2- 402.HONDA4 v3.06
If you are set of doing it yourself and your unable to obtain a flashed data module you can still use the old 556uw from viper where you give up a key to the module. But you have to do everything point to point wired vs. the data module piggy backs off of the existing data system resulting in fewer wires and a more seemless transition for the functionality of the viper in the vehicle.
