i wass trying to play some dvd-a discs and i kept getting the error message disc format and then the disc would be ejected. does anyone know what it is?

 

You usually get a format error message when the disc is not DVD-A. Out of curiosity what discs were they? And has this happened before on those discs?

 

I had this happen out of not paying attention. I had bought a DualDisc and put it into the CD changer and it kept saying disc format error. I finally went and looked at the cover of the CD and it said the DualDisc was DVD-V and not DVD-A. The 5.1 mix was in DVD-V format so it won't play in the TL.

Sony has released a bunch of DualDiscs in this type of format. CD on one side, Dolby Digital 5.1 mix on the other. Sony makes the SACD format which is a competitor to DVD-A so they will never release a DVD-A disc.

 

those bastards ! well since our TLs dont play sacd and sony/bmg dual discs ... we wont be buying either !

 

Is it a two-sided disc? If so, have you tried flipping it over?

 

My 2007 tl type s is doing this with regular CDs.

 

Just picked up an 07 TL w/Nav WDB two weeks ago. Doh! I thought i had carefully selected Back In Black DualDisc as my first DVD-A. It gives the FORMAT error and ejects the disc, and well i've heard the CD version a million times. I have read this forum and now realize that BnB is a Sony BMI PCM and is not the DVD-A that I thought it was. Back to my search for stuff that i would want to buy again. (Pink Floyd, Rush, etc)
