Lightbulb Differential Balanced signal from headunit

Hey guys,

I know that the stock nav headunit pushes out balanced signals to the stock amp. Anyone solder on rca connectors and try and use the JL CL-RLC to process the signal into unbalaced? My plan is to use the JL unit before my 4 channel and sub amp, but I've read of noise problems with most line drivers.

As a side note, I already own two phoenix gold TLD22 line drivers. Anyone try these as well with success?

Thanks

will your amp not play nicely with the signal? My JL 700/5 works perfect straight from the HU.

My Alpine amps will, but I plan on using an equalizer to fine-tune the sound and to add in an ipod hookup without having to go through the headunit. If that makes sense..? So I just need a line driver or even a loc that can accept the balanced signal and put out unbalanced rca without adding noise to the signal.

I took signal straight from the HU right to my amp for my components and used a LOC for my sub amp. Some amps will accept a balanced input and some wont. Both my amps are from the same company and one accepts a balanced or unbalanced input while my sub amp does not accept a balanced input, weird but whatever.

As long as your amps accept a balanced input then you should be fine without using the JL clean sweap and just turing the speaker wires into r as and running them straight into your amps.

I believe most processors have the ability to use the signal without additional devices.

Not the one I purchased, so this brings me back to my original question.. What line driver or loc can accept differential balanced signal?

The RF BLD is an excellent 2 channel line driver, noise free that accepts both balanced and non balanced signals and will output both balanced and unbalanced which is selectable. No noise at all. As with alll line drivers it should be as close to the beginning of the signal path as possible.

With that said the whole balanced vs unbalanced debate seems to get blown out of proportion. It really doesn't seem to matter with the TL which doesn't use a true balanced signal.

Thanks for answering my question! Should I use the hight level input on the RF BLD or splice on rca ends?
I've got another one for you though, this one in regards to the center channel. I don't plan on amping the center channel and rather unplug it altogether. Will this effect my HFL capabilities? I know that nav prompts come through the center channel but I have those turned off anyways To sum it up, what exactly comes from the center channel and is it required to use the HFL, thanks again.

BLD highs are fine.

HFL is through the fronts L&R, not center. I turn the center all the way down for music and it will still work for the navi (different volume control). However, I turn the navi sound off altogether most of the time, but it is kinda nice if my parents come to town that I can turn it back on.
