I couldn't be more disappointed with Acura's lack of an AUX in.

I am thinking of going with the Dice unit and have a few questions

Does the Dice unit charge the iPhone ?

Does the unit place the iPhone into airplane mode ?

Any other iPhone issues I should know about ?

I really need to talk to a few people with iPhones and 3G TL's ....

Yes it does charge the iPhone (non 3G) --- I haven't tried a 3G iPhone on it yet...

Does the unit place the iPhone into airplane mode ?
When you first plug it in... the iPhone will ask you if you want to place it in Airplane mode and will give you a "yes" or "no" option... I say "NO"... or if I forget to respond... the iPhone will default to "NO"...

The Dice Silver will lock the iPhone and you'll have to control everything through the factory radio... which is very fast and easy to do...

I guess I will write the folks at dice and see if they have a solution for the future. Looks like apple is using 5v to charge and a step down is needed. I don't think any of the devices have a solution yet.

 

None of the newer Apple products, including the 3G iPhone, will charge with Dice's current products.

 

I frequently see vendors post here, has this company said anything official is in the works with a time frame.

 

When the 3G iPhone first came out, DICE said it would be "a couple months" before they came out with the cable which will enable charging of new Apple products. However, I don't think they're offering it yet. Also, Nick, from DICE, used to be a vendor on here, but he's no longer with the company.

 

I've had problems with this unit and my iPhone. Right now my Nav screen is stuck saying DICE and I can't get it to do anything. THis is my second unit now with the same problem and customer service doesn't have anything more intelligent to say than to swap it out a third time. Hopefully I'll have this thing figured out soon. It's very annoying.
