I think he's talking about retaining the Dolby Pro-Logic II 5.1 Simulation available on the head unit.

can some one tell me if this right or not? so you take the 20 pin connecoter signal rigth before the amp and wire up to the 3sixty that is what im using, and do you leave the connector unplug to the factory amp right?

spyfish...or anyone on here...does anyone know which of the sets of wires depicted in posts 27 and 29 are before amp and which is after amp?
I'm getting feedback/whitenoise on my system because i think i took signal after amp and I'd like to switch over to before amp.

Please let me know!

forget it...must be the black plug...the one with the remote turn on for the factory amp. Just figured that out.

i was looking to replace my factory amp with an alpine pdx5 5 channel amp. Also pioneer has a nice sub TS-SW84ID that i was told would fit. Anyone use this set up b4. What are your thoughts about this. The factory system sucks

I have been looking at doing the same thing, but I dont know how hard it will be to do, I have built many systems anything from show to pure SPL and SQL, but i have not dealt with keeping the stock HU. Basically I wanna go and keep the stock HU and be able to still control a few basic settings with the HU, but I want to put a 5 channel amp for the int speakers, and then add a mono channel amp for an aftermarket sub. How easy would this be. Thanks in advance for any help. I have been also searching on the site but everything is soo old and I dont know if anyone has found a better or faster way of doing these things.

IF you have a quiet factory amp (I have alternator whine coming thru mine).
Take speaker leads after the amp and solder RCA female ends onto them. Then run your 6 RCA's back (1 sub, 4 interior and 1 center channel) Run RCA's to the back as you normally would. And Run your 2 amps.

Not very complicated.

IF your factory amp is giving you any noise...eliminate it by using a line driver to boost signal to aftermarket amps in the back.

You may have to find an accessory 12v wire to turn on your amps, the stock amp turn on is very low power, and when i tried to hook just one amp to it along with the factory amp it wouldnt even turn on, cut the wire for the aftermarket amp and then then the factory one worked fine again so now to find acc wire.......

^^^very true...
except...I didn't figure that out until after I had bought a new 4 channel mid/high amp becuase I thought my other one was fried. DUH...not enough voltage to come on! lol. Try your fuses under the driver side kick panel...if you need me to check I can tell you which one I used.

Ok I am confused on adding an amp to the speakers. I want to add a 4 channel amp for the door speakers and rear deck. I don't care about the center channel. Do I need to use a loc? If so where do I splice in? If not please explain. I just want to add an amp. Not install a sound processor.

hi guys. I just had some lingering thoughts I figured I should spit out here on AZ ... so it seems that many people are having noise issues with the stock TL amp (especially when they're amplified with aftermarket amplifiers) ... my understanding is that most alternator whine/noise is associated with grounding issues ...

So to my point ... why can't I just provide a new ground to the stock TL amp to rid or at least decrease the noise that it produces??? (I figured why can't I just feed an additional, better ground to the black line on the 14-pin grey, stock amp output connector ... of course given that THAT IS what is providing the ground for the stock amp) I also find it interesting how some people are finding noise from the stock amp while others are not ... just random thoughts @___@

I forgot to mention ... it would probably be wise for me to do a search on this much-discussed issue of the noisy stock amp and see whether my idea was actually even tried before ... if not, I'm definitely willing to try tomorrow as long as there aren't any complications involved with my idea ...

Some afterthoughts ...

It may be that the stock amp is just noisy(?), but again I would like to see if anyone addressed the stock grounding issue for the amp ... also it doesn't seem to be a problem with the stock headunit since the black connector input into the stock amp seem to have produced clean signals for everyone who had problems using the outputs ...

Brother, I lost 3 months of my life chasing this problem every single day for a few hours after work and on weekends.

Don't bother, I tried every permutation and combination under the sun, new ground for stock amp, new ground aftermarket amp, new power, rerun power, resolder speaker wires, rerun remote turn on...and NONE of these worked...swapped OEM amps with a friend of mine with a TL and what do you know, although quieter, it had it too. I think the aftermarket amp just makes the problem more noticeable and once you know about it, you can't stop listening for it.

My fix, cheap audiobahn line driver, soldered the speaker wires AT the radio then combined them into RCA's, ran to trunk to line driver, amplified sound enough to be useful to the aftermarket amp and voila...
BOTTOM line, you HAVE to take the stock amp out of the equation.

Good luck!

Yeah definitely the amplified signal is just making the noise a lot more noticeable ...

So basically it's just a design flaw with the stock amp? Or more likely, Acura just never cared enough to resolve it since it was never meant to be used with aftermarket amplifiers lol ... I think I'll try out the long and painful way just to make sure haha. I've been trouble-shooting this for the past month or so getting help/advice from diyma members so I might as well go all the way (but also keep in mind the fact that you've already tried it and found the stock amp to be the ultimate culprit)

Thanks again! I'll update on here what happens ...

EDIT: Use of line drivers boosting the signal??? Wonder if this would be a fix in my situation

Hey man, who knows? Maybe your problem is different. Keep us posted.
This has EASILY been the most pain in the ass system to integrate into an aftermarket one. If I had to redo it...I'd take most of the money I wasted on troubleshooting and buy a Pioneer Avic and make it fit/work.

I couldn't agree more! oh well, I'll still give a try and see where it leads me ... I'm just amazed at how others don't have any noticeable traces of noise at all, and they're using identical or comparable processors/amps/audio components

I haven't read all the posts on this topic...just in case I thought this may help....Have you ever looked in to a RTA
http://www.trueaudio.com/
to find the problem? Could try audio before and after amp.

Or consider a JL Clean Sweep? These are a couple posts that may help you understand what a Clean Sweep is if you do not know and want to consider one.

https://acurazine.com/forums/audio-video-electronics-navigation-22/jl-ssi-needed-805699/

https://acurazine.com/forums/3g-tl-audio-bluetooth-electronics-navigation-94/jl-ssi-needed-806080/

I do not have any issue with my set up that is basically using oem amp front and rear outputs to a JL Clean Sweep then to JL HD900/5 and to the oem speakers and two JL subs that are running mono.

oh wow i wanted the HD900/5 hahah it's basically my mrp-m500 and pdx4.100 all together in one package - can't beat that!!!

In terms of looking at the equalization via an rta ... would I be able to just pretty much decrease the amplitudes of any extreme peaks and dips??? In that case, I actually have a 3sixty.2 coming in the mail hopefully by tuesday through which I can technically tune it to kill down the noise ... hmrmmm ...

The RTA I mentioned is only a way to test and find the source of the problem.

Oh yeah, what I meant to say is that I would be able to view the entire audio frequency range and from there be able to equalize the system via the 3sixty.2 ... make it a little more flat

thanks for the information, and i'll put up an update on what happens!
