Defeat "AD" - Please !!

Lock if you deem necessary, but this thread should be used as a collaborative effort to produce a patch free of the "AD" initials

SH-4 / IDA / Embedded C++ experience - PM ME

I need a snapshot of the memory at the last address jump.

What community? Is that the one consisting of whiners and freeloaders, who think that after giving a software patch for free, the developer is also obligded to give away the source code?

Lets not bring back a topic that already has been locked.

The topic of this thread is to try to find a way to defeat the "AD". If you do not have any helpful tips or tricks, DO NOT POST.

Use a hex editor to replace the text just like when changing the disclaimer text. There is a howto posted somewhere on this forum. Its pretty straightforward. I just did it, and it took less than 10 min to update the bin and load it into the car.

Thank you Angry Dad for this hack and the others. Some people don't realize how hard this really was to hack. I stared and traced the code for many hours with a dissassembler and didn't make any progress. You must be a genius!

If you haven't done so already, please donate to Angry Dad. I'm sure he spent a lot of time on this and deserves the credit.

AD's website and paypal donation link:

The AD can't be modified using Hex, its not treated as simple text, however I should soon be able to have a workaround published "hopefully"

It's quite simple to delete. Just go back to your original software. Initials are gone. Since you didn't pay anything to begin with, you're not out a dime.

Thanks for the tip...

This has nothing to do with money, or being "out a dime".

I too am disappointed how the forum rewarded AngryDad for his efforts.

The point of this thread is to pickup where AngryDaD left off.
Unfortunately, I suspect it'll be a lot slower. AD added in 3 weeks, what we've been searching 3 years for.
I have nothing technical to add, but lets please keep this post to technical discussion, and not drill into this again.
