whats goin on ....last week my alpine 10 inch type s blew the funny thing is im only runnin about 200 whats to it ...the type s was the floor model so i think it was blown on the floor cuz it sounded funny from day one at high volumes i only had it for about 10 days....the guy at the store told me he wouldnt be getting any apline stock in for like 2 weeks....if i wanted he told me for 45 dollars we can just go with a jl w1 ....i got a pdx 100 by 4 amp so the jl w1 would be getting about 200 watts to it....what do you guys think wait for the alpine or pay the 45 bucks and get the jl w1

 

The W1V2 is a very under-rated woofer. It has much of the features that the W3 and W6 carry but is much more friendly and efficient. It would work well with that amp.

For the record I beat the daylights out of woofers and I've never blown a W1V2.

On the other hand you could buy a TerminatorQ Audio Boomtastic sub for hecka cheap and it will be cool.

 

i guess for 45 bucks it's not bad

 

i had a w1 for about 18 months in my TSX in a ported box. When I took my new TL to Circuit Shitty to have the amp wired, the installer turned the gains on my LOC and the boost on my Alpine MRP-M650 all the way up. It hit crazy hard for about 3 days and then finally fried. I think I was overpowering the sub by about 2 times. I think it's a decent sub as long as you have the appropriate amp and don't let an idiot tune it.

Having said that, the next step up - the 10w3 - I've overheated 2 so far - but I'm convinced it's because I just keep pushing the limit. Even so, I don't think I would want any other sub. Maybe I'll just add another one some time in the future.

 

well i went with the w1 as of now it knocks a little bit harder than the alpine but i think im only running 100 watts to it because the guy said u couldnt bridge the two channels in the back but i thought you could is that b.s ....if u look at it specs it says 100 by four or 200x2channel

 

What ever happened with your ID tweeter issues? That was you over on the ID forum, right?

 

Distortion will kill a speaker faster than anything...use common sense...if it makes funny noises or smells like something is cookin...than STOP whatever you're doin and check everything!!!
