Daylight Savings Time Law Change - How Will It Affect Us?

For those with a TL or any other model that gets its time via satellite...

A new law gows into effect in the next year or two that would make daylight savings time start 3 weeks earlier and end one week later.

It still needs to be voted on in congress, but will most likely pass to save energy.

How will that affect our cars?

With the AUTO engaged for Daylight Savings time, it changes fine now.

However, is this a function of THE CAR or THE SIGNAL being sent to sync the time?

In other words, when the new Daylight Savings time takes affect, will the signal make it "OK and correct" when in AUTO Daylight Savings Time... OR will we have to get some sort of upgrade to make the car software compotible with the calendar algorhythm?

Of course you can set Daylight Savings AUTO to OFF... But I intend tyo have my car awhile and dont need to do extra things on such a state of the art car for the next 8 years.

Anyone with an answer?

Mike

It is a function of the satellite. Thus if the satellite has the right time, then we'll have the right time. The signal will make it "OK and correct"

Actually it's a function of the GPS receiver. The GPS satellites run on GMT (Greenwich Mean Time ) and the GPS receiver software uses an offset based on your time Zone and resets based on current DST and standard time shifts. Some software allows the user to determine the dates to change the time offset. Worst case scenario we change it manually until Acura gives us a software upgrade.
