ill pm you
Being located in an area with many local car audio shops but none that are elite or distinguished, i'd be willing to drive maybe cross state to get work done buy someone that specializes or understands the in's and out's of my car.
Fit and finish are worth the extra drive and $$$$$$$.
These guys out here in western new york are OK but definately dont impress.
by the way uncald4, made a paypal payment this morning, cant wait for my new sub and enclosure!!!!
with matching carpet!!!!

You would get a lot more sound pressure into the car if they were not faced at the opposite trunk wall like that.
As for sound pressure, it is based on the amount of air volume you have in relation to the amount of air the sub can move. Regardless of what way you face the subs, you still have the same volume in the trunk. Now, if they were facing to the back, you would hear the bass more. This is due to the long wavelength of low frequencies. This is why a lot of competition vehicles try to get the listening area down to the smallest amount as possible.
My goal was to keep them out of the way as much as possible, if I did try to position them any other way it would require loosing some trunk space. I am hoping to get two tens into the same box. Will try to start that work this summer. Need to be able to move more air.
This was the first enclosure I did where I had to much internal air space for the subs. I actually had to fill the box to reduce the amount of air inside.

When you fire a subwoofer at a surface that is parallel to the surface of the subwoofer it causes the maturing sound waves, especially low frequencies, to bounce back into new sound waves from the woofer cone. This is a form of active sound/noise cancellation. This is a very effective way to lower your sound pressure level and bass output.
When you fire a subwoofer woofer toward the rear surface of the trunk most of the sound waves will bounce forward into the cabin of the car and mature somewhere inside the cabin of the car. This is an easy way to increase your SPL and bass output.

You are correct in the statement, in regards to the cancellation of the signal, but the signal in my case not coming straight back at the subs. As for SPL (Sound Pressure Level) it is the amount pressure created by a moving device in an enclosed space. Facing the sub back wards does not increase SPL, it makes the sound wave audible as you stated above. That is due to the length of a low frequency signal.
Most cars designed for SPL reduce the space down to as little air as possible in the cabin area and have the subs sitting right there. They do NOT fire the subs back wards to increase the SPL. Again, most customers want to hear the sub, this is why you fire them back wards, otherwise the bass is heard by everyone but the person in the car.
With the way the trunk in designed in the TL, it acts as a bandpass box and the back seat armrest is the port.
I am not trying to insult you in any way and understand you have experience in the field, but there is a huge difference in audible and SPL. Same reason SPL and RT are 2 different classes.
But with everything, each person has their preference to how they like it to sound. Some like ported boxes over sealed, some like them to fire back wards, up, down or forward. I have tried all 4 in a vehicle and each one has its own pros and cons.
I apologize if you took insult to my comments and did not mean to insight any kind of argument. Here are some pictures from my previous car.

This is actually one of the best sounding boxes I had built. It fired up in a 97 Prelude. I used the same subs I have in the later box in the above picture.
