Crystal Method: Legion of Boom
I think its soulless and boring, even comared to other crystal method discs. doesnt really utilize the format's potential either. one could theoretically do great things with electronic music on dvda.
There's a review of Crystal Method's Legion of Boom in the Nov/Dec isuue of DVD ETC. Felix E. Martinez wrote the review and gave it a rating of A-.
"The Crystal Method's electronic music is genetically engineered for multi-channel surround sound, and the musical duo's new DVD-Audio release on the DTS Entertainment label, Legion of Boom, simply rocks the house. The onslaught of keyboard lines, percusssion, loops, sampled instruments, and vocals explodes from the speakers and leaves you reeling. The surround mixes by Fred Maher and Nathaniel Kunkel will surely delight and provide many hours of demo material to wow your friends and unnerve you family!"
The Crystal Method are Ken Jordan and Scott Kirkland, native Las Vegans who, ten years ago, moved to L.A., built a home recording studio, and over the past decade have cooked up some of the most bass fortified, hard-rolling concoctions to hit the American dance music scene. Drawing inspirations from a braod range of musical styles, Jordan and Kirkland fuse funky electronic timbres wiht rock and rap elements.
Legions of Boom provides a discrete 6.1 DTS-ES track, along with PCM stereo and hi-res 24-bit, 48kHz DVD-Audio 5.1 options. The disc also includes two 16:9 widescreen versions of the fantastic video for "Born Too Slow," directed by Gore Verbinski (The Ring). Other special features includ a mix breakdown for the "True Grit" track, bio, and web links. Rounding out the disc are two bonus track, alternative versions of "Born Too Slow."

I'm definitely going to pick this disc up. I got Linkin Park (reanimation) and Stone Temple Pilots (core) on ebay. I definitely can reccommend those two. I recently picked up a Santana DTS CD that sounds pretty impressive as well.
