In general, the DVD-Audio section of the DVD - the AUDIO_TS directory - is encrypted with a much stronger, and as yet unbroken, encryption scheme than the DVD-Video section. Furthermore, most DVD-Audios are analog watermarked so that second-generation copies will not work even if the digital encryption is broken.

The result of this is that DVD Decrypter and the like will only "back up" the video section of the DVD-Audio. Any copy it makes of the AUDIO_TS directory will not be usable.

interesting .. never bought a DVD-A disk to try ...
but !! if I were to try something .. I would prob use .. disc welder to burn my own DVD-As (not 5.1.. jus 2 channel waves).. of what I choose to put on them .. about 99 songs per chapter or something.... forgot what its call .. anyways .. if you had the chrome version . you can have a tone of songs on 1 dvd .. prob even use tape controls to skip there in the TL .. bronze will give you about 99 songs max ...

now if ya did want 5.1 audio dvds

I would prob use dvd DVD Audio Extractor v3.1.0 .. to take audio off my personal regular movie DVDs
example SADE (live) 5.1 concert ... hint .. then burn your own 5.1 ..mmmm dvd-a (discwelder) ...
I would search for guides on the web afterdawn etc .. prob find all you need .. please do not ask for info as I have not tried this and do not pirate stuff ..but from what i have read it appears to work

Yes, it works for DVD Video concert disks. Not even sure about SACD. But DVD-A would be sweet.

I don't want to get into the legal side of this, but I don't think that backing up of your own DVD is breaking copyrights. Furthermore, changing a format from DVD-V or whatever into DVD-A should not be a problem. What is so differrent between doing what we wanna do and changing a regular CD into MP3 so that I could listen to music on my iPod? Granted, I could buy legitimate MP3, but not all songs. And even so, why should I pay again for a song I already have? Back to DVD-A, I would gladly buy one for the artist I want, IF IT WAS AVAILABE ! Since it is not, I am left to my own ways. Furthermore, I already paid the blank media levy, for the blank DVD-R, so how many times do I have to pay for a song I already have? This being said, I do not consider "format transfer" as any form of piracy.
