Conversion No navi to navi TL

Here in Canada for 2004, we could not buy the TL 6 speeds with navi system. So I bought the 6 speeds w/o navi system.

Does somebody knows if it's possible to install the navi system into my car ? I already have the bluetooth option installed withe the button on the steering. The 6 speeds TL arrived with bluetooth in Canada.

I have a good deal on the navi system.

Somebody can help me please ? I would have the dealer to install the whole thing. Do I need to change the CD/DVD player as well ?

The short answer is no. You could do a custom install like this though.

For which reason exactly it's impossible ?

If it fits in an NSX, I can't believe that it can't fit into a TL 04 ? I mean that all the connections must be ready for it.

As I saw in some others forums, maybe the dealer will not want to install it, especially if it won't be covered with the car's warranty and it also won't match the s/n of a TL with navi.

But I'm almost sure that it can be fitted with the proper connections and parts.

It can probably be done, but I doubt you'll find a dealer that will do it. Most of the people who do projects like this do it themselves. You may be able to find a custom shop that will do it, but I wouldn't know where to tell you to start.

lets put it this way, it would be cheaper to trade in your 04 for an 05 than put the time and efforts plus parts to do it.

dealer sucks anyway. try those car audio/video shops, they definately capable of doing those kind of installation.

It's not financially feasible with OEM parts. trust me on this. The list of parts needed, including wiring harnesses, navi screen, control units, DVD drive, etc, is astonomical. Not to mention the labor.

If you have to have it, look in the aftermarket

https://acurazine.com/forums/car-parts-sale-361/fs-comptech-exhausts-they-gotta-go-only-asking-%24400-100785/

parts only US$1800

and labor... it is not that much... have ya seen recent pic of a hardwire ipod integration by one of the member? they basically tear up entire center console all the way the the arm rest + cabin .... and it only cost him US$120 labor!

It depends about the price, I could buy on ebay the DVD-Rom player for 125$ US, and yes it is expensive if you buy it at the dealer (2758$).

If I could buy the screen and the Map with the same kind of deal, it could be very affordable no ? The rest of the system is not that expensive, like the GPS Antenna is 131$, and the brackets and nuts are fairly cheap.

The most exepensive ones are: DVD-ROM, NAVIGATOR (the maps): 1977.75$
DVD UNIT, NAVIGATOR: 2758.56$ (I could buy it for 125$ on ebay) and the center module (I'm not sure about the price.

Sometime on ebay, it's fairly cheap to buy second hand stuff which actually work.

But I really don't think that the dealer would like to install second hand electronic in a 2004 car under warranty......

Wow! How's that for some good ol' American ingenuity?

My opinion was just that, an opinion. Anything can be done. I've just seens some proof.

Let me just say that I wouldn't want to have put that stuff together and guarantee it to work.

how much of a difference? what if you buy all the parts from a wrecked TL, and sure they may say its a bitch to install... but after looking at the nsx, can't be all that bad. doubt dealers would do it, but a good custom shop would be nice.. hmm maybe west coast customs?

pimp my ride w/ oem navi! !

I might make an attempt after 2 yrs, no rush for the navi now

it can be done, I've done it to a 04 tl non-navi and bought a navi from a wrecked 04 tl and put it in.
