yesterday while driving I noticed that my compass wasn't displaying the accurate direction and instead going all over the place. so i did some digging and found that if you hold the fan speed up and down arrows together for 5 seconds you get to a menu where you can first set your geographic area (to adjust for true north vs. magnetic north) and then if you hit off twice it blanks out the compass direction and allows you to re-calibrate it by driving the car slowly in 2 circles.

however, even after doing that the compass still doesn't display a direction and instead just says --. plus the north arrow is all over the place and doesn't move as i turn. any time i try to get back into that menu it won't let me in.

is there anything i'm missing or doing wrong? or has anyone ever experienced anything like this?

I actually figured it out myself last night. Basically did the same thing again as the instructions said but instead I drove around in a wider circle.
