Clock Not In Sync with GPS

I have an 05 with factory Navi, the clock on my dash above the Navi screen is off and I can't find a way to adjust it? The owner's manual says the clock is auto-sync with the GPS. When I look into the setup screen of the Navi, it has the correct time, and different from the clock on the dash.

Any ideas on how I can get the correct time on the dash clock?

Thanks!

hm...i haven't really noticed that, but if it really bothers you, you could always just change it manually

Hi Erick, thanks for the quick reply.

The clock on the dash is off by a couple of hours plus a few minute. I haven't found a way to change it manually. The owner's manual for the Navi model says the clock is only auto-sync'd thru the GPS.

If there's a way to adjust the clock manually, that would be great!

Push Setup

Then look for time zone/clock

then you can change time manually.

yeah I tried that, and the clock on the Navi Setup screen is correct. But it doesn't update the clock on the dash.

it won't update the clock on the dash eh? hm...i don't have my car with me - it's at home in the garage, but i'll check as soon as i get it tomorrow. maybe a quick reset's in order? take off the neg terminal, wait 15 minutes, reconnect - make sure you have your navi/radio codes though. sit tight, i'll check tomorrow

have you done a navi conversion? Have you changed anything with the navi? What color disk is the dvd drive using for the navi?

I just bought the car a week ago, and it came with the Navi, I'm pretty sure it's not a conversion. I could be wrong tough, any easy way to tell?

The disk is orange.

Actually I'm sure it's not a conversion. Here's the info from owners.acura.com after I registered by VIN

My TL did the same thing, I believe it is a common problem with some early 04-05 TL with navi. And I can't find no way to solve this problem. Just try to deal with it and do some caculation everytime when you look at the clock !!!!!

do this, take off the battery cables for about 30 minutes and then reattach. This should drain the system and reset it all. You will need both the security codes (radio and navi) before doing this so you can type it in after the car has been reset.

Problem solved!

Hey guys, thanks for all the advice.

In the end, I found the problem by digging thru a whole lot of threads.

Apparently, the previous owner loaded the Navi with the Honda Accord software to get the trip computer. The Honda splash screen on the Navi start up tipped me off. So I found the instruction on how change it back to the Acura software by burning a CD, etc...

As soon as I loaded the Acura software, the clock was in sync again

But still have another problem with the Navi, the voice directions does not work, it just mutes the front speakers, but nothing comes out. Any ideas?

When your Navi boots up, does it say Honda or Acura?

I also have a Honda screen. I did this mods below, now everything is fine with Acura screen start up, clock back to corrected, all the navi and CD voice commend still work good.
If you need help, let me know since we are at the same boat!!

Okay----Here are the details to try this. Again...DO THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK.

Step 1)
Remove DVD disk from Nav system in trunk. Key must be in II position or III position. Press eject

Step 2)
Copy the following files to your hard disk. You must have a DVD Reader.
File1=BN2HH12C.bin
File2=BN2HH110.bin
File3=BN2HH120.bin
File4=BN2HHmld.bin
File5=BN2HN12b.bin
File6=BN2HN18b.bin

Step 3)
Take File #3 above (BN2HH120.bin) You need to rename this file to BN2HH12c.bin, and burn a CD. So, your CD should have the files named in Step 2, but BN2HH12C.bin should "REALLY" be the file BN2HH120.bin (But named BN2HH12c.bin)

Basically, the system is looking to load file name BN2HH12c.bin. We are tricking it into loading BN2HH120.bin by renaming it. BN2HH120 is really the accord nav system.

Burn a CD (Yes...it doesnt have to be a DVD) with these files and place into NAV system.

Step 4) Get into DIAGNOSTIC mode by holding down "MAP/GUIDE+MENU+CANCEL" until the diag screen shows

Step 5) Select "Version" from the diag screen

Step 6) Select "DISK LOAD" which appears in red.

Step 7) DO NOT SHUT OFF KEY from II or III postion

Step 8) It should re-boot, and you will see the HONDA logo instead of the ACURA logo. Place the orig NAV disk in the NAV system

YOU NOW HAVE A MUCH BETTER TRIP COMPUTER!!!! (Than in the MID)

To go back to the orig Acura system, make another disk, however....this time, Rename the Original BN2HH12C.bin file to BN2HH120.bin. The nav system with the Honda logo is now looking for BN2HH120.bin If you re-name the orig acura file (BN2HH12C.bin--->bn2HH120.bin), you will go back to normal. Follow the same proceedure as shown above, only with the disk described here.

I have two disks, and when I go to get an oil change, I will reset to ACURA....

AGAIN....THIS IS AT YOUR OWN RISK!!!

Starchyld, if it's just the clock sync issue. Follow jumbosushi's instructions above, except you will want to look at the last couple of paragraphs to see how to go from Honda screen back to Acura.

I did it, and it worked for me. My screen now says Acura and clock syncs just fine.

Apparently my voice command and navi voice is a seperate issue which I have yet to solve.

Don't spend $250 for a new disc at the dealer if you really want a new disc. www.acuranavi.com has the newest disc for $185.

Thank you peeps!!!! Am in the same boat and searched forever on this topic. Ended up buying the newest version disc and the only thing it fixed was now the voice commands work One question though, if I do these steps to get the clock in sync with the navi system, and for it to boot up in acura instead of honda, will I still have the trip calculator?

As others have recently noticed, the dash clock has somehow miraculously started working. It was been off for quite some time on my '05 Acura TL. I went into the Setup and changed the clock to the correct 24-hour clock time. It seems to be staying at that set time. I am wondering, like others, whether it will change automatically for DST on March 13th.

I am wondering if new programming was downloaded from the GPS satellites as I can't imagine what else could have happened. I have also tried to go into the MENU-SETUP-CANCEL DIAGNOSTIC MENU to setup the date but that still is set to 2002 and cannot be updated. Maybe that will update in the near future as well. 🤞

No.
Have checked on weekend on my 2007 TL. In settings, the GPS time is ok while the dash clock is not synchronized.

There’s a sticky thread about clock issues up the top of the subforum—the thread name says "MEGATHREAD." Perhaps the mods could merge this into it?

In my '05 Acura TL, the GPS time is fine now while the dash clock is synchronized with GPS as well. The only problem still left is that the CALENDAR and the date still indicate 2002. How it actually started working again is still a mystery unless the GPS satellite data was changed by the military satellite command and control center.
