Cingular??
Hello, I have cingular service.... Right now i have the razr, but i need to get another phone... Does anyone have any of the PDA's available through cingular. And if so, does it work well with your car... battery meter, caller id, signal strength... i don't want to go to the store and get a phone , just to return it bc it didn't work... i have looked through the different links on this site and i didn't see any PDA's.. particularly i was looking at the cingular 8125 pocket pc, but any info on the other PDA/ Crackberrys would be appreciated.. thanks

No need to pair every time with the 8125. Just pair it once and you are good to go. I ran into an issue where I left my bluetooth activated on my phone while in my house and when I received calls, my calls were going to the bluetooth in the TL from in the house. I guess I was in the 30 ft range. Either way, I really like the 8125. There are a ton of applications. and the sound quality is good. The processor on the phone can be slow at times, but there is an overclocker and even with the standard processor speed and memory, I can watch DIVX movies without any a/v glitches. I would recommend.

I use the BB 8700c and it works great! My friend has the 8125 and she loves it. She has literally tried every pda Cingular has come out with lately too (HP, BB, Siemens, Treo). So she's put them all to the test. So it's really just a matter of preference.

I just got a Blackberry 8700c and I love it. It works wonderfully with our cars and it really isn't that cumbersome of a device. I have a friend that is manager at a Cingular store and I was about to get the 8125 but he said if you are hard on your phone, then don't get you are better off with something else. So I opted for the Blackberry and I have no regrets.
On a different note, if you don't mind spending some cash, the Nokia 9300 is a really cool device. I played around with it but I couldn't justify spending the extra money on the phone, but I will admit it is really slick.

I have the Razr and it pairs by itself. My guess is that you don't have the phone configured correctly.
Look at Settings/Connections/BTLink/Setup and make sure Power is ON.
Then check Settings/Connections/BTLink/DeviceHistory/HandsFreeLinkTM and make sure Access is set to AUTOMATIC.
See if that helps.

Has anyone figured out how to get phones that initially do not display the battery or signal strength to display it aftermarket? To get that functionality does an update need to come from the provider (Cingular) or the maker of the phone? The last two phones I've had displays everything (battery, signal, caller id) and so I would hate to "upgrade" phones but lose functionality.
I looked on that howardforums some, but every search I did for this phone brought back topics that had 75+ pages of replies.

Hey there!
My new Blackberry 7100g that I ordered through Cingular on Monday is due to arrive via FedEx this afternoon (WOOHOO - NOW MORE WORK ALL THE TIME!) and per Acura's website it is supposed to completely work with the car. Whereas my current Motorola V557 only shows the signal strength.
I'll let you know when tomorrow!

I am looking at the 8125, but acura's website (www.handsfreelink.com) details the problems referred to about signal strength and battery level. The more troubling thing they assert is that call waiting does not in any way work with the handsfreelink system, and callers who call when you are on a call will get bounced to voicemail. Can anyone who has a TL (mine is a 2005) confirm of deny this? Thanks

I was hoping that I hadn't made the wrong choice in BB's, but I really like this unit. The phone itself is small, the signal and battery (so far) seem to be strong, and it's efficient.

I was in Philly this past Tuesday, although not in my TL. Ate lunch in Manyunk and did business. I saw quite a few TL's around the way while I was there. Of course.
Did you decide on a particular PDA yet?

Got my 8125. Love the phone and pocket pc funtionality, but one issue. Have an 05 tl, and the bluetooth is acting funny. Everything works great except call waiting. I see the call waiting on the CID screen, but when I hit talk on the steering wheel, the new call is picked up by the handset. the only way to return to the HFL is by doing voice command "transfer". Help anyone?

With regard to signal strength and battery level... THERE IS A FIX!
Take a look at http://www.jetwaremobile.com/index.htm - This is a software package that adds a suite of features on top of the bluetooth stack on the 8125 (doesn't replace the bluetooth, just enhances it). There are a whole slew of customizable options, among them are signal strength and battery level... Those work perfectly. There are some other options which don't fix the call waiting problem but suggest to me that call waiting MAY get fixed as more features are added to this package.

Cool! This software worked like a champ on my T-mobile MDA (same thing as Cingular 8125). It got the signal indicator and the battery level to display on the HFL. It sux that I can't get call waiting to work tho.

It looks like most of the people on this thread have gotten their 8125's to work with HFL--I'm wondering if anyone though has been able to get Acuralink to work with an 8125 (or equiv, such as the T-Mobile MDA, or any phone using the HTC Wizard hardware). I'm able to get my Sony Ericsson T68i to work with Acuralink, but not the 8125. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
