CDs won't play
I have recorded cd's from my playlist on my computer but they won't play in my 2005 TL. When I insert the disc I am given a message that the disk has to be formatted. I thought the CD-R discs were already formatted. Please Help!!!!! Is there a way to get them to play or do I have to buy different type discs?

If you are using iTunes to burn Audio CDs (you can see that in the Burning tab of Preferences), I would then check to see if they would play in another car or on your home audio system. If they don't play there either, then try lowering your burn speed to something less than maximum or a different manufacturer. I bought a spindle of Maxell CDs and haven't had a problem but there are a number of variables - who made your CD burner among them - that what works for one may not work for another.

Did you burn them as a CD-Audio? Or just burned the playlist? If you didn't specify CD-Audio, it will burn the playlist as data. One way to find out is to insert the disc into your CD drive of your computer and check the extension. It should have a CDA extension for audio (I think). Anyone else care to chime in?

Yes, on the computer, music tracks on a regular audio CD have a CDA extension. Try putting your self recorded CD into another CD player. Maybe your home CD/DVD player. If it doesn't work on those, then something is fishy with your burn.
In most CD recording software, make sure you select "CD Audio" (versus Data CD) when creating a new disk. Also, many older model CD players do not like multi-session disks. Selecting "finalize disk" option will force a CD to be single session and more compatible with many players.
Hope that helps!
