CD Text.. one big annoyance
the biggest downfall to my newly acquired TL id have to say is the lack of the damn text.. i read a couple diff threads.. how can it read xm stations and not a damn cd text?? is there anyway around this??Or any cool things i should know about.. i had a dvd-a in my car when i bought it, it looks to be blank of names as well .. so and im just royally screwed on the subject?
How about ipod.. is there a change the ipod songs come up on the screen??

WOW! You'd have REALLY hated the 70's. :harikari:
AM/FM Radio with aftermarket Cassettes and/or 8-tracks. Talk about no "text". You actually had to *know* the songs and artists. F'n PITA!!

Is your "newly acquired TL" an '07 or '08 because it does read CD-TEXT information. However the majority of CDs do not have this information included on the disk. I've never seen a DVD-A disk that has CD-TEXT information on it.

Guys, I've got around 70-80 DVD Audio discs and only one or two discs have text information. It sure is disappointing. With all the technology that goes into those things, you think that they would have put that information onto those discs.

Modulus,
I'll have to check and get back with you. I've tried so many in my Type S that I don't remember off hand. I've got a bunch of regular CD's in the car now. I'm amazed that the ELS Surround Sound System is taking regular CD's and simulating 5.1 surround sound in the car. I also rebalanced my speakers so that you can hear the rear speakers alittle more prominently too. I'll do so checking again for you and let you know. I've got a Chris Botti regular CD called "A Thousand Kisses Deep" (smooth jazz) that sounds terrific in the car and does have text information.

How old are your CD's? I know all my 80's and early 90's CD's only show the track number.
The only CD's that I have that show the text are the compilations I made.
I'm pretty sure older CD's did not have the artist and title information inputted since back then nothing read the text.

If it's the "biggest downfall" then that's pretty minor indeed. Then again I never got the big deal over CD-Text or similar. If it's my media I already know what's on it. Taking my eyes off the road to read what I already know serves nothing. Yes, XM is different since it's not my media. Then it's nice to know what it is that's playing. Still not about to grab a pen and write it down while driving though.

Guys, sorry it has taken so long to respond like I promised. I have not found a DVD Audio disc that has text on it yet. But I did want to tell you that I've tried to play the 5.1 side of a few DualDiscs and they will not play at all. I tried quite a few DualDiscs and none of them worked in my TL Type S. It just spit them back out. So we DO know now that DualDiscs will not play in our cars. I'll try to get back to this and see if any of my DVD Audio discs have text on them and write back to you again.
