CD changer

I had a brother-in-law put a CD in without pushing load. It doesn't recognize there is a CD inserted and won't eject it. Just makes a whirring noise when I hit disc play as if trying to shuffle?

Tried unhooking the battery to see if it would reset but nothing.

Any suggestions would be helpful.

So he basically just mashed a CD in? Damn he must of had to push hard on that. My guess is there is now a CD wedged in where it shouldn't be and no amount of power cycling will cure that. Can you see the edge of the CD? If so you might be able to use tweezers to pull it back out. If not then if it were me I'd be tearing out the head unit and disassembling it to the point necessary to get the CD out. If that's not you then you'll either have to get someone to do that, order a used unit from somewhere or just not have a CD player anymore.

I assume pressing load in its current state won't attempt to load it, or realize something is screwed up and spit it out? Or, if you do press load, when happens if you try to stick another disc in? I'm not sure where the disc detection sensor is, but maybe you could hit load, then stick a thin piece of cardboard in to make it think there's a disc waiting, to force the motor to run through its standard load procedure.

Otherwise, yeah... pull the unit and disassemble until you can get the disc out.

I would NOT try pressing load or any other buttons that may cause the mechanism to move. Either get some tweezers or use a dental pick to try and get the CD out, before you break something that cant be repaired
