Carputer - what features will be lost??

I am leaning towards doing the carputer mod on my 04 non-nav TL.
I couldn't find answer to --- will the bluetooth / HFL unit function as stock? i.e. will the audio from the carputer source be muted when the phone rings? and what other features are at risk of losing? thanks in advance!!

you mention HFL pausing the music, this will occur, but it will not pause on the computer and keep on playing the track, and then move onto the next track. You won't lose any of the features if you use the proper stuff, and since you have a non-navi, it is going to be easier to put the carputer together, but the only thing is that you will need to extend about 40 wires to move the audio display down to the lower two compartments. Check out KING OF PAIN's carputer, that is what you want.

^^^True but it worth it a lot!!!

The only thing you will loose is the NEXT - PREV track on the steering wheel. But if you really know what you're doing with electronics, there's always a way to give those command to your PC with some serial ports.

Here's a small picture to encourage you!! good luck!

ahh.. that is not I was hoping to hear. My thinking was if we tap in to the Cassette Tape input we might be able to have the music mute 'on phone call' feature work as stock.. but it may not pause the music / gps voice being sourced from carpc.

Thanks anyways..cheers

awesome, another desi... but if you run the GPS and audio on the PC, I am sure that the GPS app can be configured to mute the other audio and play the GPS voice, the un-mute. But this is an example of why factory navi is so much better, and I stand by that, I have had a non-navi, a carputer TL and and a NAVI TL.

I dont really care that my song keeps playing if I get a call, no big deal!

^^A carPC offer so much more possibility for customizing, if you can create or change the skin of your NAVI let me know

Keyboard for Carputer

Consider the one handed FrogPad as the keyboard for your carputer. Www.FrogPad.com
