carputer screen dim?

Anyone have a problem with alternate inputs to the OEM screen? My carputer is connected to the OEM screen via Dom's unit. The OEM screen works just fine with the factory input (I have a flip switch between factory/carputer), but when I select back to the carputer the screen dims out by half. I have not changed any of the display settings on the carputer. My initial suspicions are that something has burned out on the Dom's unit. Has anyone else had this type of problem? I am definitely not looking forward to replacing Dom's unit and having to pop out all the panels again, but if I have to then oh well...

Take the RCA/VGA/S-Video out and plug it into another monitor. IF it is dim, the PC is the problem. IF it is fine, reconnect to nav screen.

If the above step was fine, then unplug the cable leading to doms in the car and hook up another source. If this is dim, it is either the cable or dom's unit. IF it is fine, it is the car PC.

Well I tried the infallible camcorder test. I was able to display the PC directly to it without any problems. However, output from the video camera to Dom's was dimmed out. That is likely the source of my problem, will need to schedule some time to take apart the panels (again). Anyone have an idea about warranty for the units? Are there more reliable alternatives to the Dom's unit?

dom's unit is very reliable and soild. I would call him and tell him what happened. I am sure he will replace it for free. Also were is dom's unit? You can only remove like 1 panel if it's in the area above the navi dvd drive.

it depends on where you installed your carPC. Mine is not in the trunk but under the front passenger seat. Dom's is connected at the head rather than at the DVD unit. I know the instructions say to install at the trunk but there is absolutely NO difference between splicing the wires at the front (LCD) end versus at the DVD drive.

It turns out the box just needed to be reset (press down both +/- brightness buttons) and that fixed it. Not sure how it got to that dimness level but it's all fixed now. I have repositioned the box so that net time I will have to move only two panels rather than six :-)

well after you told me that, DOM's warranty is gone if you hook it up to the head and not to the dvd-drive.
