As I previously mentioned, I was able to successfully remap my old steering wheel HFL buttons to work with the Carpuride Steering Wheel Controller (SWC). Now, through the use of my steering wheel, I can answer/hang-up phone calls, ask Siri prompts, and skip songs and podcasts.
I won't go into detail on all of the steps that I completed. However, it was a very tedious process that required dozens of hours worth of trial and error. In the end, I feel really accomplished that I figured this out and it is working.
With that said, below are a series of pictures that outline my journey to complete this project. Enjoy!
@wusty23jd Absolutely awesome project. I'm wondering if you have any insight into how I can install the factory navi system + sub display into a base 2010 RDX? I hate looking at the Sony "dream machine" radio display. Is it as straightforward as replacing the CD changer, silver button panel, screen, and sub-display using existing harnesses or does it require messy changes to the wiring of the car?
I really appreciate any feedback you would have. Is it just a pipe dream?
However, I installed the Carpuride unit into a 2007 Acura RDX technology model. If you want to install the sub display, my assumption is that you would have to retrofit the entire navigation system, which is a significant undertaking and requires a custom wiring harness to be made.
I realized I had responded to the wrong thread after I had already replied! I saw your RDX install which got me thinking about the navi retrofit again. Wiring diagrams and such aren't my forte. I think I'll put this project off until I win the lottery.
