Navigation Display Screen

My display is peeling very badly and it no longer works (navigation wise) since Acura sent out those correction disks a few years back. I was wondering if anyone has ever taken apart the actual display unit to see if the screen can be repaired. I did a bunch of searches but couldn't find anything on someone taking a display apart. I would just pull it if I knew of an aftermarket unit I could replace it with that would allow the A/C controls displayed and fit in the opening,

Hi Jon, Mine wasn't peeling, the LCD material within started to fail and parts of the screen were not showing up.

I tried taking mine apart; only after having pulled & bought a newish version at LKQ for $25 . The internal LCD touchscreen is connected to the outside with a double sided contact film that I didn't see any point in trying to replace as removing it damages the internal screen.

I supposed if you had a replacement film you could give it a shot; but (for me) the cost for a replacement unit wasn't worth it.

picks of what I picked up below sometime in 2018. Came from a 2003 CL with (I presume) little mileage.

new-old navi screen...$25 @ LKQ!

Whitetiger5, You got a great deal, that Navi unit looks pristine. Mine you can barely see unless it is dark outside. I will keep looking for a used one, if I can find one I will be trying to dismantle the one I have. Thanks for the response.

If interested, It appears lkqonline.com has two listed under a 2003 TL search?
One in Omaha, NE from an 01 TL for $113 and the other in EL Paso TX from a 2002 TL for $101.
If the links don't work just fill in the car criteria indicating 'Radio/Nac/GPS'>'Info-GPS-TV Screen' and they should come up.

Zeta,
Thanks. I have been looking I saw one in Massachusetts for $50, I sent in a request for a quote, some more pictures, code and VIN. They had responded but says with shipping it is $80 but no more pictures or other information. I will be calling them on Monday. I'll check out the ones you linked. As you can see by the picture below mine is in bad condition.

After Acura sent out an update disk to fix the clocks (a few years back) the navigation portion stopped working. It apparently wants the original disk but I had upgraded the disk and tossed the original. Now it just gives me an error saying wrong disk. I do want to see the clock and have the controls.

The picture below is from the one located in EL Paso. It appears to be in decent shape; however, the picture is not very good.

To say the least, purchasing one from a salvage yard online will be a 'roll of the dice'.
GoodLuck!

I agree on the roll of the dice. There are few yards around here (20miles or so) but right now I didn't see any that looked good enough to spend the time in the current heat in a hot car removing the unit. I do want to go the local yards as I need a piece of chrome trim (the little piece that goes over the top of the drivers side rear window) and I want to check out a new hood and left quarter panel as my paint is peeling. I want to see which is cheaper repainting the hood and quarter panel or swapping with used ones.
