Any touchscreen press problem when you have the Touch panel pressed by the lcd?
I'm actually extremely tempted to swap out my stock screen because I can't think of anyway to keep the screen from automatically turn off. Hella annoying when it's like 5 second timeout.

Doesnt seem to be. There really isnt much pressure on the whole thing. I super glued the touch overlay to the LCD then the rubber stand-offs press the whole thing against the plastic...but not very hard, just enough to hold it steady.

I may suggest a different overlay though. I am going to put the stock overlay back in and see if that works...it is non-reflective. I will let you know how that goes. Also, THe LCD controller in the kit I bought works just fine accept I don't know that there is any back-light control. I would like to connect it to the dimmer control of the car just like the old screen but there is 0 documentation for it.

So in short what I am saying is this, if I were buying all over I would buy the same screen, no touch overlay (use the stock one) and find an LCD controller that has some good documentation.

Thanks for the advice, 8" is a really odd size that's why it's hard to find capacitive touch panel for it. Otherwise I'd get one too. I might look for another LCD with the same dimension but has hdmi/dvi instead. Ive had very good success using centrafuse for automatic day/night skin, which I think it just changes the screens gamma setting.

Any updates man? I'd love to see a video of the OEM interface on the aftermarket screen when you have a chance?

yeah, sorry man. I have been swamped with work and other things this past week or two. I will get a video up in the next day or two. everything is working pretty much perfectly. the OEM nav on the aftermarket screen looks great, very crisp, no hiccups or image problems at all.

I am an idoit :-)

So while messing with stuff last night and attempting to install a USB hub I killed some stuff! I read in the wiring diagram of a 5v wire that powers the upper LCD screen...the one with temperature and such. I didn't test that and assumed it was indeed 5v, it is actually battery voltage!! I had my USB GPS unit and my touch screen plugged in to the hub, they are now toast :-) I have ordered replacements along with a few other random things. Hopefully they get here next week. I will wait until then to update with videos and such.

Why don't you do your relays on 12V instead? that way you can keep your reverse camera's auto reverse.

the relays are for the touch overlay...not for the reverse camera. I want the touch screen 4-pin connector to switch back and forth between the stock unit and my USB touch controller. The relay will be switched by the 5v coming out of my KVM, When I switch the KVM to the stock nav the relay will activate therefore switching the 4 pins to the sock connector...then the touch screen nows controls the stock nav, make sense?

for the reverse camera the video comes straight of the stock camera already there...all the way from the truck into the AV input of my LCD controller board. The controller board has a 12v reverse signal input that switches the board to the AV input when 12v is applied. since there is already a stock wire for that signal at the head unit I just used that.

OK, so I should be getting the Android PC back next week, that should give me the motivation to finish this thing up and post more videos. Work has been crazy and my girlfriend deserves attention, so yeah...

i gave up to on my stock screen and purchased the same screen as well.
there was no documentation whatsoever that was included. how did you find out which pins you need to apply 12V for reverse camera?

I've got an 06 non navi, what would be different for the same install? I think i just need to get the brackets from a TL navi and some minor mod's to mount it where the nav screen should be. I've found a lot of the adaptors to tap right into the factory wiring at install.com.

you would need a navi clock & climate display somehow.

PS. if you plan to do a carpc, PM me know i've accumulated many parts over the year that i could pass on for cheap.

Damn so that Ebay arcade card works... Too bad I picked the wrong one which also costs 3x as much. For $33 I will have to try again. I read a little of the thread this morning and been thinking about my stock display on my screen ever sense. Main thing will be I can input my pin to unlock the nav and get voice controls back.

Did you have to make any D sub connectors or anything or do they send everything you needed?

bump for very old thread

Hey all,

Sorry to bump such an old thread and i'm sure the OP is no longer even on this forum as the OP has sold their Acura.
All the pictures/videos and links are dead (not surprising because of the age)

Anyone have any ideas on the touch screen kit that was used? I have a 07 MDX that I have navitools running on, would love to get a better and brighter screen installed using the method (or similar as the OP ) the RGBS converter they used seemed to display the OEM signal properly.
Seems a bit involved but for techies and hobbyist this would be a fun project.

Amazon Amazon

https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_fro...=7+inch+screen

Not sure if any of those would be a huge improvement.

Been considering it before going with Nexus 7. Seems like there is no high resolution screens in this size, or they are hard to find.
Maybe if you could use screen from phone or tablet is would work good, but finding a driver and making everything work would be a challenge by itself.
Something like: https://hackaday.com/2014/11/02/usin...dmi-interface/
