car beeps when bluetooth out of range?

I have had my TL for a little over a year and never noticed this before. When I get home at night I park the car in the driveway and take my phone with me in the house. I lock the doors twice with the key fob and hear the beep sound it makes. About 30 feet from the car I started hearing this faint beeping sound one day. At first I thought it was my imagination. After hearing this about the fifth time I was concerned that the second beep meant that something was wrong with the car and had something to do with the locking system. This continued for a few days and I only ever hear it when I arrive at home and nowhere else. Last week I happened to be holding my phone as I got to the front door I pulled out the front door key and I had my cell phone in my hand also. As I looked for the key I noriced my phones light activated (motorola 550) and then I heard that beep sound from my car. It all fell into place once I saw that and I was relieved to now know that it was the bluetooth disengaging my phone. Strangely enough I have only heard this sound for the last month or so and never before and only in my own driveway and never any where else. Maybe it is due to the quietness around the house. Anyone else out there know of this?

Not sure if I've ever heard a beep from the car, but the phone (Razr V3C) beeps when it disconnects from the HFL. That happens about ~30' range, which is about all you can expect from bluetooth. I have noticed though that if leaving the trunk open, the HFL doesn't release the phone until after I close the trunk.

No, the beep is not from the TL when the phone disconnects-- it's the phone. At least that's the case with my Moto V551: it issues a single long beep when the TL's HFL disconnects.

Nope the beep is definately coming from behind me as I walk up the stairs to my front door. It's a muffled beep, so I assume it is coming from inside the car. But like I said I have only heard this happening in my driveway and never anywhere else. That in itself is very weird

I believe my TL does the same thing. I think its the same two-tone beep you get when you disconnect a call.

I think it is the car disconnecting from my phone as the phones lights activate when the beep goes off. Sort of like a transfer I guess.

Yes, my phone buttons and display also light up when the phone beeps while disconnecting from the HFL. It is a transfer back to the phone from the HFL.

It is definitely the phone and not the car.

BTW, the car doesn't beep at all when the phone connects or disconnects. Sit in your car and turn your phone on and off to try it.

it is the car that the beep eminates from. I can clearly hear the muffled beep tone coming from behind me. Besides the phones in my hand at the time, do you not think I could tell if it were coming from the phone? I have never heard the sound when I arrive at work and walk away from my car, but then the surrounding noise may be to loud to hear it.

The mystery continues

What does the beep sound like. Is it the same beep you get when you lock the doors twice? Is it a two toned beep?

The only beep that the car makes that I'm aware of is the two lock single toned beep.

Yeah, same here. The only beeps I know of that the car makes is the locking beep when you hit the lock button twice. Mine definitely doesn't beep having anything to do with the HFL.

Its the same beep that sounds when you lock the doors. In fact today I arrived at work very early this morning and as I was unlocking my office door. I heard it beep at me due to it being very quiet in the early hours. It is the phone detaching itself from the bluetooth as the lights on the phone always activate at the same time the beep occurs.

This has never happened to me, I have a V3c. I went out and tried it a few time after reading this the first time. Not once di the car beep. And to build on what you said earlier, you said it was muffled, then you said it the same as when locking doors. When you lock the doors the sound isn't muffled

In my opinion I think the sound is muffled and sounds like it is coming from behind you because your phone is in your back pocket when your walking away.

Well then you have a very weird TL my friend. No one elses TL beeps when bluetooth connects or disconnects from the car. And certainly not the same beep as when you lock the doors.

The guy at Acura said it is indeed the car, detaching from the connection. Maybe it isn't meant to be heard, but for some reason I can hear mine.
