Can the CD player in an '07 TL be hacked to play the surround soundtrack on DVDs?

I really like the DVD-A capability, but sadly DVD-A source material is really scarce, and most of what little is available is expensive. I have 1 Steely Dan DVD-A, that has 1 song on it that's also on a Steely Dan greatest hits CD I have. I use those to demonstrate the difference to passengers.

It would be great if the player could be hacked to play the 5.1 channel audio track on standard DVDs. I doubt that it's possible, but figured I'd ask anyway.

Maybe try to rip the AUDIO_TS directory on your DVD and burn only that on a blank DVD. Try that disc in the car. Worst thing that will happen is it doesnt work and you wasted a cheap disk

There were some posts years ago about how to rip the 5.1 audio off of a DVD-V and burn to DVD-A. I probably contributed to some of them and I know I did a few discs myself from some concert DVD-V discs.

Basically the process is to extract the 5.1 track off of the DVD-V into 6 chanel WAV files and then burn them to DVD-A using a tool like Cirlinca (www.cirlinca.com)

Try this search in Google "site:tl.acurazine.com dvd audio extractor" since the tool used back then to extract the files was called "dvd audio extractor" . It will yield just about anything you need to know. Not sure if dvd audio extractor is still around or if there are better ones now.
