Which Camera from Wendy?

I have searched all over but can't seem to get an idea if someone has used the newer camera.

She has 2 for sale.

The old one
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/SMALL...QQcmdZViewItem

and a new one which is identical in every way except it is smaller
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/SUPER...QQcmdZViewItem

My concern with the newer one is that, I don't know of anyone who has personally used it and also since it is not as deep, it might show more of the bumper on each side since it wouldn't protrude as much (but in hindsight, this should be adjustable by mounting position)

Anyone have any inputs?

I remember someone using the new one, they said they had to put washers under it to sit perfectly. I plan on getting the 05' model........after I pay for my damn license tags.

OK, I went with the older camera since there is little experience with the newer one, it doesn't appear to offer anything new, and it is $10 cheaper.

Thanks.

Today was a good day. I ordered the CT RSB, ES bushings, CF trim kit, and the Camera (alread y had Dom's kit)

I was concerned with the same thing when I was buying my camera. I decided to stick with what is known to work. The question I asked myself was "pay $120 for the '05 model that works, or pay $130 for the '06 and experiment." I was already spending a lot of money on other gadgets for the install, so I decided to go with the '05 to be safe.

To make you think even more, Wendy also has a third camera. I like it because it has a wider viewing angle. Check it out in AcuraTL06's CMOS Rearview Camera Pics thread.

Overall, I don't think you can go wrong with this seller. Many members have bought their cameras from her. Good luck with your decision!

Edit: I guess I took too long responding. You made your decision already. Oh well.

I didn't even consider that 3rd camera since it appeared to be bullet style and I though that would mean drilling a big hole in the trunk or something. Oh well, I'm not sure I like the extra distortion of the wide angle view. I think I'll be plenty happy with the one I got.

Well I got my camera and installed it like all the others. I am very happy with the results. It looks like I do see a little of the aluminum trim at the top left and right corners but I don't want to aim it down anymore because then I would see too much of the bumper and not enough backwards. It doesn't really affect what I can/can't see so I probably won't mess with it. I might at some point try putting a few washers in between the mount and the trunk to lower the camera and allow it to be pointed a little more backwards but overall it came out very well.

I do still have to seal the edges of the camera. How far in on the lens before it is actually visible on the screen?

I do sorta wish I'd tried the smaller camera now so it would be even more hidden but overall I'm very happy. Now if only I could find a decent audio adapter for the ipod/future media device.

If you got the smaller one wouldn't you see more of the aluminum trim? You'd still have to use washers to lower the camera down to viewing area.

Yeah, and that was my original concern above. I guess I just sorta like the look of the newer camera more but I guess it doesn't really matter since you should be able to see it much or really be looking at it at all.

I applied Silicon sealant with a toothpick. A bit messy, but it doesn't appear on the screen at all. I might have to peel it off and redo it to make it a little cleaner.

Ya know, you'd probably like the older camera more if it was labeled "new for 2006"...
