Bunches of Random Questions

Hey guys, I've searched for a few of these but I wanted to make sure of them before I shell out the cash.

1. My nav. screen has been resetting itself quite often lately. It sometimes happens in the same driving locations (not sure if there's some interference in these spots), but it will reset itself a few times and go back to normal and sometimes it will just keep resetting itself at random intervals (5 seconds, 10 seconds, 8 seconds, etc). I'll start up the car and press the OK button (which I'm nav. hacking ASAP haha) and it will pause...then reset. Happens from nav. screen and audio screen, but like I said it's not every time I'm driving, just random times. Is this an issue where I'd need to send my unit off to Alpine and pay the $180ish to fix it or is there something I need to do?? I've got this terrible feeling that they won't find anything wrong and i'll be out $180

2. I'm going to do the "OK" button removal...If I'm using a Mac instead of a PC will that matter?? Don't wanna mess anything up...

3. I'm wanting to redo the audio system but I can't decide if I want to try to amp the stock components or buy some 6.5" components. Anyone amp'd the stockies?

4. I want to try to take care of the rattles, etc when I have the door panels off so what would be the cheapest, though good quality, product to use? I've researched it a bit but there's soo many different products for everything (rammat, dynomat, second skin, fatmat, peal n' seal, etc). I just want to reduce the rattles with having to labor a ton...just want something easy and cheap that will do the job without paying for the dynomat price.

thanks guys!
