Has anyone ever had this?????

My Nav screen is saying cannot read DVD....been doing it for almost a month...getting tired of not having nav or anything

Dealer said they want $120 just to look at it.....would like to avoid that if possible

Any ideas whats wrong??

 

First, I assume you are out of warranty?

Probably worst case is a bad Navi DVD player in the trunk. If so, don't go to the dealer. Send it to Alpine. I think they charge about $150 to fix it. There are several folks on this board who have done so. Do a search for "Alpine" and you should find details on how to send to Alpine.

Also, it could be a scratched or dirty disc. Have you removed it and checked for damage?

Alpine info is in post #32. Note that there were a few successes with just cleaning the disc.
