Bluetooth not responding

Recently the Bluetooth in my 04 TL stopped working completely. When I press (and hold) either of the buttons on the steering column I don't even get a response. Also, neither my nor my 3 buddies' phones are detecting the car's device. When I select the HandsFreeLink option on the dash it just says "Booting Up" and will continue to do so with no end. I went to the dealer and they told me it would be $150 for a Bluetooth service. Obviously I don't want to do that. You guys have any troubleshooting tips? Thanks in advance.

try holding down the call and end button together for 10 seconds and the HFL will enter a diagnostic mode. This can help get modules that are stuck in the "booting up mode"
