bluetooth and the mid

Here is a question for you bluetooth guru's. I have searched with no luck. I have verizion so the v710 is what Im going to end up getting. Now if you have bluetooth and its working properly when you receive a call or dial it should show up in the mid is this correct. Also does it show you your signal strength. Does it have the ability to show what system your on. I.e. analog digitial or your home system. Thanks any info would be appreciated. The reason I ask is Neuronbob says his phone doesnt show signal strenght. I was wondering if its the phone, or can a firmware update fix this. Do other phones from diffrent company's have diffrent options in the car.

Each phone company behaves differently. I think on the V600 (GSM version) everything displays but the V710's bluetooth might be provisioned to have limited display so it just depends.

In laymens' terms, some manufacturers limit the amount of information that bluetooth can send. It is probably something based on the contract between Motorola and Verizon that they don't want certain things to show on the MID...that could be possible as some phones like Nokia phones don't show "everything." Hmm...in order to get all the information shown, you would have to get a pretty good hex editor and know all the programming codes to program the phones bluetooth firmware as it is set on an EEPROM chip. Other than that, best of luck getting it to work.

I'm not quite sure I understand that....why would it be in Verizon's best interest to neuter the phones in this way so that they prevent basic functionality that is of no interest to them financially (signal strength, battery level information) and is obviously available on other carrier's phones with similar technology? I can see where they might squelch or limit certain types of functionality that they could provide as an addon at additional cost to the consumer (i.e. ringtones, games, programmability, etc), but not something like this. I could only see it driving potential and existing customers to other carriers whose phones give them what they want.
