Talking Bluetooth - I take it all back.

Going back almost two years, I made comments on forums (mainly the Infiniti forum) about how half-baked I thought BT was. I mean, tons of people were complaining about it ... trouble pairing, bad connections, dropped calls, horrible voice quality. Even my '06 M45's BT was shaky.

But whether BT has advanced a lot or Acura just got it right, the Bluetooth in both my TL and my RL is golden. Great connections, sound so good people don't know they're on handsfree, superb voice dialing, etc.

Today I called a relative halfway across the country from my TL, and it happened that he was also in his car. Although he sounded perfect on my TL's speakers, he said he had to apologize for having me on "speakerphone" (his car's BT). I laughed and said I couldn't tell, and then told him I was on Bluetooth, too. He was surprised, and said he thought I was at home on a landline.

Good work, BT!

A lot has to do with using the proper microphone and placement, and using good noise cancelling software. Acura seems to have that part of it down pat.

My BT works great as well. I have yet to have someone tell me I sound like I'm on a speakerphone.
The big cause of complaints I've seen here is related to using phones with software that doesn't link to the TL's HFL system. A very small number of posters here had complaints before their defective HFL systems were replaced. For most of us, the TL's BT rules!

I just bought a BT phone and it works great in my TL. I can't believe I waited 2 and a half years to do it.

I probably wouldnt catch 99% of the calls I get when I'm driving if not for this BT integration...even with vibration on.

My calls in the TL06 BT sound MUCH better both to me and the person I am talking to than when talking directly on my T610 Sony Erricson.

Two issues however, I wish there was a solution:

1. (Seomtimes) I get out of the car, lockup and make a call and the phone sends the call to the car. I hang up, try to turn the BT off on my phone and make the call, the phone says BT is busy and cannot be turned on.

2. (All the time) While driving, sometimes I want to call from my T610 phone through my phone's Phonebook. I bring up the person and hit call, the call does NOT go to the TL, it goes through the T610. In order to call out with voice coming from the TL, I have to VIEW the number in my phone and read it to the car and double check to make sure it got the right number. Maybe its my T610.

For incoming calls, its fantastic!

You can dial or use your phonebook from your phone after pressing send you need to press the call button on your steering wheel and say "transfer". You will be transfered to your car's bluetooth.
