Hmm. You just cracked open the door on a new mod. If the Bluetooth module has the smarts built into it then it might be a plugin upgrade. So where are the smarts for the Bluetooth module ? The voice is not generated by the nav because non-nav still have the voice recognition and speech. I'm thinking it might be self contained in the small module in the roof console.

I think you and I may be on to something Triggle...
It would be nice to have caller ID to display names and even to store
an unlimited amount of contacts in the car plus being able to upgrade the bluetooth on a regular basis

Is there a reason for you to update the HFL? Most people would want an update so that their unit would be more compatible with newer cell phones. If a cell phone is listed as compatible, Acura should comply with an upgrade request (thus the link I posted above).

Sorry am I missing out knowing about some new feature of the 2007s ? You can buy the module outright but we'd need to establish the compatibility of the module from 07 backward to 04

Part number for the 04 HFL:
39770-SEP-A01ZA HANDS FREE LINK UNIT ( MOON LAKE GRAY ) 2004 TL 305$

Part number for the 07 HFL:
39770-SEP-A11ZA TELEPHONE ASSY., HANDS FREE ( MOON LAKE GRAY )2007 TL 403$

The guys who upgraded their units say that they operate faster than they did prior to the upgrade, which leads me to believe that the voice is onboard the small unit as are all the brains. So this module has a reason to be 100$ more at the dealer. There are not all that many wires going to the unit so they must be a signal to switch the audio and an audio signal as well as mic input, power, ground, the phone buttons on the wheel and the display data out. I think nav has some connections to allow calling a point of interest. What's needed is the pinout for the 2007 to compare to this 2004-06 diagram. Am I missing anything ?
