The HFL in my 05-TL has a mind of its own. About 75% of the time I press the "talk" button to start up the HFL absolutely nothing happens. The other 25% it works just fine, EXCEPT pairing. I CAN go through all the prompts and settings just fine but when I try to pair a phone it never finds one. It says "Searching for a bluetooth phone" and then about 2min later says "No phones found". I have tried a few different phones and still no luck. My phone that I would primarily be using is a Verazon iPhone 5s. Has anyone been able to bluetooth/connect their iPhone 5s to their HFL? and does anyone have an idea of why it wont even turn on 75% of the time and then not pair when it does? sorry for the long post but I would greatly appreciate any help. Your HFL board may be failing. A search of threads will call up the issue with this component. I just replaced mine for $214. Works as it should again where before it was intermittent and finally quit altogether. Call the number in the HFL section of the car manual and they will probably be able to tell you that its broke if they can't pair your phone.

Check the HFL in the Multi Info Display screen-- does it say "Booting Up" more than 2 minutes after starting the car?

If so, the HFL module in front of the sunroof switch probably needs to be replaced-- @ $180 and 10 minutes of your time.
