Bluetooth Hands-Free Problem..Help!!

I recently upgraded to a Treo 700 that has seemed to work great with my TL until now.

If I receive a call I can answer using handsfree without any problems.

When I call someone I can dial using handsfree and the display shows it is in use and the phone dials the number and my radio is muted; but, the handsfree does not work after that point; no ringing or voice over the handsfree system. Once the call is dialed using handsfree, I have to pick up the phone and talk. I can not find a setting on the phone or the car that seems to address this. I also search the forum for similair topics but did not see anything.

Can anyone help me out on this? It is driving me crazy!!

700p, 700w, or 700wx? Carrier? Firmware version?

Not that I can help you, but these are all relevant questions as your phone description was vague.

Is the volume for the HFL turned all the way down? I know this sounds obvious, but sometimes the obvious is what we miss the most.
The volume for the stereo and HFL are mutually exclusive.

Yes the volume is turned up. I hear the prompts to dial the number. After I confirm to dial the number I do not hear anything, ring, when the person answers, and they can not hear me unless I pick up the phone.

Here's what you do

I had the same problem with my Cingular Treo 650, with the most updated firmware. I found that if I had an earpiece plugged into my phone, HFL will not work. So if you have an earpiece, unplug it. That worked for me and solved about 75% of my problems.

The other 25% were solved by just shutting off my phone at night when I charge it, rather than leaving it on all the time. I read about it in another thread here - cannot remember where. Have no explanation why it works, but it does.

I now have no problems with HFL and my Treo, and I absolutely love it. Having a bluetooth-integrated car with voice recognition and easy to access buttons is the bomb. I am the envy of all my geeky friends.

I stopped by the dealership to have them look at this. Both service and sales were at a loss. We paired to another TL and everything worked fine. After trying different things we discovered if I dialed a number by actually saying the number the handsfree worked fine. My problem only occured when I dialed a number from my phone book in the car and spoke the name I wanted to call. We added a new number to the phone book and could use this without any problems. It appears I will have to re-enter my phone book in the car to get everything to work correctly.

It is really strange since I can speak a name and it will dial that person on the phone but will not give me handsfree. Acura Service was at a loss as to why a name in the phone book would dial the number but not allow the handsfree to work; but once the name was re-entered it worked fine.

Either way, now I know and can get back to handsfree talking.
